Jewell: Easter Couldn\'t Have Gone Any Worse
at 00:25:34

Lightning boy - spot on.

Sheepdag - What? He'd be worth lots you mean?!?! Maybe a million? Yes he can score goals at league one, but hasn't at championship. What I'm saying is yeah he could be worth a good amount but a player in the championship that scores ten is still worth more than someone who scores double in league one! It's not fair no but it's simple mathematics!

Rhodes is clearly plying his trade at a lower level but FFS can we PLEASE stop talking about how we lost him. HE'S GONE GET OVER IT!!!!!!

And to all the others, give Jewell a summer, see what he does and come xmas if we are still languishing down the bottom half, point made, but have some god damn patience CHRIST!!!

Jewell: Goals Would Have Graced Any Game
at 18:10:57

Lee-Barratt has the most irritating shout ever. Granted we shouldn't be able to hear it at what is fast becoming known as "The Library" on other football forums!

Honestly, he sounds like an owl or something.

Hutchings Confirms Town Targeting Luton\'s Drury
at 23:02:16

Mark my words, in the years to come have some form of wage structure now will help this club stay more afloat than others.

If it means missing out on promotion in the near future, so be it. If keeping a wage structure means being a far more stable football club with no risk attached to spiralling down the divisions and having crippling debt, I think I know what I'd prefer.

Again as I have said before Clegg is definately not my first choice, but I think that without full facts over the Austin deal etc, some of you should be a little more tactful than to just use him as a scapegoat to make you feel a little happier with yourselves.

Dolly I think what he is trying to say is that both us and Burnley had bids accepted. From then on Swindon have nothing to do with what happens on a negotiating table. He's basically saying that because Burnley had their offer accepted its not like we could go back to Swindon, offer a few hundred grand more and Swindon could then tell Burnley to do one.

We need to get over this people and fast, lets judge the whole situation after Jewell has had maybe a month in charge shall we! If Jewell gets the team winning again none of you will care or even remember Austin!

Agreed Jimmy. Just wondering whether Jewell is just not panicking into anything so soon coming back into management. Maybe he is just seeing out the season, confident that he can turn it around without having to make huge changes, and will then consider an overhaul in the summer? Not that I think he needs to massively.

I'm sure like others he was pretty peeved that the Austin deal wasn't done, and I do agree that Clegg is clearly in some way to blame for the amount of deals that seem to fall flat.

Having said that, unless anyone can correct me, presumably there must be some discussions between manager, execs, and evans etc as to where the buck stops on a players value. We managed to agree a fee for Austin, but I like others on here knew that as soon as Burnley agreed a deal we were stuffed. There was so much in burnleys favour that we were never going to get him then.

But you know what do we really know what happened? Did Austin come here with instructions from his agent to not agree anything in the hope that the following morning they would wake up to find out that someone else had come in and offered more?

Was Austin or his agent or both just be very greedy? Ask Swindon fans and I think most will tell you that whilst he clearly has talent, he is also disruptive and was known to throw toys out of said pram?

Not that I am saying Clegg is blameless, I don't like the idea of him being in charge of our deals as much as anyone else. All I'm saying is it would be interesting to know on this deal how much was his fault?

Hutchings Confirms Town Targeting Luton\'s Drury
at 17:49:51

Been trying to find stuff on the web about this lad. From reading a Stevenage Borough forum about when he left them for Luton (Not disimilar to moving from Town to Scum).

Many of their fans thought he was the player of the season and instrumental in getting them promoted. Hence, they were all very surprised when he wouldn't agree a new contract and moved to Luton, who of course were still non-league.

He apparently players out wide for the most part and is a good set piece taker.

For £150,000, he isn't an enormous risk, but unfortunately isn't quite what many Town fans were expecting in the transfer window. But having said this who knew a lot about David Johnson when he came here? Who knew anything of Taricco who of course signed alongside Paz who was supposed to be the main signing.

Any signing is a good one for me until proven otherwise!!!

Burnley Emerge as Town\'s Main Rivals for Austin
at 12:28:47

I agree tortoise. Its all about getting some perspective on things. Massive shame we couldn't get him but we have to just move on and go for someone we can afford.

Burnley still have parachute payments and did not spend big when in the PL so the risk is worth taking with Austin. If we are trying to get stability at the club, he isn't worth the risk.

Having said that they shouldn't have told us that PL football was the aim, and to get there so soon. It should have been "we want stability then PL football."

If people want us to spend big, and have the risk attached, fine. But don't complain then when the club ends up in adminstration again and still languishing in the championship, or god forbid League one!

Burnley Emerge as Town\'s Main Rivals for Austin
at 12:10:37

I am fed up that Clegg has a terrible record in signing transfer targets but having said this, this one may not be his fault.

If its true we offered 12k a week for 3 and a half years and he has either turned it down or gone to Burnley to see what his options up there are, I say stick to it. I would be gutted if we don't get him and disappointed that we failed on a target again but there are still some facts to look at.

He hasn't played at this level. Who would blame him for at least checking his other options. He is still very young and to spend more than 12k a week on someone who hasn't cut it yet is a risk. I'm not saying it's one not worth making but it is still a risk none the less.

I'm in agreement that Clegg does appear to screw up some deals when it comes down to sorting out contracts and having 21 contracts up in one go is ludacris. But, I do feel maybe this one is not necessarily his fault entirely.

Swindon Boss Wilson Confirms Austin at Portman Road Holding Talks
at 00:19:44

It'll be great if we get Austin. But I do agree with some fans on here. Not that I think he'll be a flop, and I will certainly give the lad a fair crack of the whip but we must remember he hasn't played at this level yet and therefore even if he becomes a great signing it might not be immediately.

Either way its far more exciting times than any of the 20 months we had under Roy Keane.

Hull Confirm Bullard Loan Deal as Jewell Moves to Make Austin First Permanent Signing

Great stuff, now get Austin in and I'll be all smiles this weekend!

This is a good combination. One seasoned professional who's been in the england squad within the last two years, and a young goal hungry striker who will just be desperate to impress. COYB!

Judging by some of the comments on there it seems doubtful thats his genuine Twitter account! He's talking about riding a motorbike through the back roads so as not to get caught by the police, and buying a quad bike at a car boot sale?!

Jewell Pays Tribute to His Players\' Effort, Workrate and Energy
at 01:35:10

Just got home after a pretty mammoth day out! Town fans should be very proud today, at the game or watching on TV.

Fabregas you're a fuxking cheat.

Arsenal just too good over two legs much like a lot of people expected. Great atmosphere from town fans, not just at the game but en route, during and after the match. Some funny chants coming out whilst waiting for the tube! Arsenal should be ashamed, couldn't hear a thing from them.

Was a little bit annoyed to hear some Town fans getting on the players backs at times after we were 3-0 down, over misplaced passes etc. For christs sake we're playing arsenal I think we can let it go!

Well done Town.
