I agree hippo. For every wolves there is a Huddersfield. Putting my cards on the table I had really hoped f we were going to gamble the Dutch guy was a risk worth taking. Who knows it could have been a disaster to but rather than a 'knowledge ' of the lower leagues player rosta we may have had some talented bargains from overseas. I had forgotten the quote by Sir Bobby "if you buy lower league players you will soon find yourself playing in the lower leagues " a warning from the great man indeed! I hope Evans sells up to as I think a complete change is needed. Milne, well he's the necessary dogs body, person to blame when wheel comes off, cannon fodder. Same as Clegg, not football people at all OBVIOUSLY. Anyway all the best hippo, nice having a chat. I hope that ne day our discussions could be about how we think Messi is going to settle into life in Christchurch park area or that pepe really should be dropping skuse or it's an honour for our beloved club to supply the entire world cup winning team!

Dear Hippo
I am in almost complete agreement with you. Mr Evans is a business man, from his sizeable wealth a good (and ruthless ) one im sure. The debt issue he ‘saved us' from we all know to be a joke. Does he tell porkys do i think? Of course he does. Is he a jack walker who bankrolls a blackburn style revolution culminating in us winning the premier league with him wearing the scarf of his boyhood club...... no! Hes a business man, the interview of pre directed questions showed him to be a good auritor but nothing more in my opinion. As to how he runs the finances of the club i think he is always going to run it to his strengths and his benefit (largely) and why not? I wish he didnt and we were doing a wolves with exciting signings and brilliant football under a charesmatic coach but he isnt.
As to the frequency of his sales, todays running costs of our club must surely dwarf those of the past. Not to mention the dwindling crowd revenue. So as time has gone on it becomes more necessary to sell more assests at a guess. The thing that really annoys me is the loss of the pre first team kids. While i understand that they may not be able to stop a manchester city or arsenal swopping down on our academy i cant understand the fact we are not still category 1! Surely that comes down to money! Enough spent (and it is my belief he has spent a sizeable ammount on this) then you must be category 1?? Anyway in closure. Evans isnt the worst owner and hes not the best. Does he lie? Does he care? Could he do more? Probably yes. Its 30 years since we won the cup nearly the same since our UEFA triumph. We flirted with success under burley (pre evans obviously) but since then we have certainly fallen from the top table and have now been put in the poor house. Anyone got an arabian uncle?

Mr hippo. Wow let me assure you i dont my head in the sand. On the contrary I have information from people at the club who tell me that Evans is far from happy with things. Hurst has a clause in hursts co tract that no compensation will be paid he is unhappy at the complete change that has been initiated by Hurst. Bart has fallen.out with goalkeeper coach. Bust ups at training ground, evans has been there for days at a time trying to get to bottom of it. I also have it on good authority that evans has to sign off everything st club from a 2 million signing to the tiolet paper order! Not good in my opinion. if we are moaning saying how come he sells our best players for profit! Haven't all our chairman done that in order to keep the club going? From Cobbold, sheepshanks to Evans ? Dyer, dalian Atkinson, dozzell, mariner, wark, Scowcroft, Wright to name a few. We bought he 2 from Shrewsbury for 2 million, a million for Harrison, 2 million for Jackson, 750,000 for Edwards have we forgotten those? No I'm not sure he is the answer for the club I love but the point I'm making is that it's not entirely his fault either! Year on year this league gets harder and harder and we slip further and further behind. Treading water is in effect moving backwards. I don't know the answer I really wish I did. I have been a fan for 40 years thick and thin.

Ha ha. What we need is a young manager, hungry lower league players and we will be in for an exciting future!!!! Who asked for that? Most of you. What about now? Stop blaming Evans he gave us what the majority asked for

Blues Legend Beattie Dies
at 17:34:39

What a player. He was the greatest player to grace our pitch. Have read both his books, a very interesting read. He said Sir Bobby drove him home himself after the 81 FA cup semi final, his arm in a sling. They both knew it was the end of the Beat and they were both holding back the tears
RIP you legend. Best wishes to his family at this sad sad time

Hurst's Shrewsbury Face Emmanuel's Rotherham in League One Play-Off Final
at 18:32:53

Oh dear. Looked a little rabbit in headlights in extra time. All about team unity, punching above thier weight, lower division players able to do a ‘job', falling short but to be applauded for doing more than expected.......... sounds familiar! Rotherham manager impressed me a lot, as did emmanuel! Time will tell but if i were hurst i would be staying put as to step up a level and improve on what youve not managed and walk away from what hes built into frankly a mess would be a backward step to me. Genuinely hope im wrong

McCarthy Hints at Early Town Exit
at 20:08:51

I do think it's best if he goes now. Only because it's got to be in a successors favour to have an eighth of a season to make judgements. If this is true you I respect Mick even more as he believes best all round. I continue to have my concerns as to his successor

McCarthy: A Strange Feeling
at 22:10:44

Let me say firstly I think Mick should have gone when announcements were made. It seems very backward just to have a man in a job ‘watching the site' while we count down our season. I think this points to the fact that Mick did push issue with Evans and he is now unprepared for what's next. I spoke to someone today who said he saw redknapp in Woodbridge today. I can't think as super professional as I genuinely believe Mick is that he wants to see out 7 dead rubbers unless he wins all 7 and shows what I think we will not have next season (without major investment) a winning streak. Stop moaning about Mick and be positive you numbskulls, you got what you want he's going. Please come up with better, honestly nothing would make me happier but without investment (which for me is key) find a manager who will keep us up let alone challenge for promotion!!!!!

Oh my god. I've just done the poll vote on eadt for who should be next manager. The leader is Danny cowley. His brand of football is exactly the same one the majority of fans have been moaning about for the last 5 years!! Wow you really can't educate pork!

Town Confirm McCarthy and Connor to Leave at End of Season
at 17:15:31

I don't see how he destroyed the ‘Ipswich way' single handidly! Was the football of a better standard under Jewell? Keane? Magilton style was the last and that was 5 years before McCarthy even came here. Listen I understand he went too far at the scum in his reaction, but I
It would be a better man than me who would contain himself scoring minutes from end of a derby game having recieved so much stick for such a long time now. Yes the standard of football has been negative and boring but I do think he has done well on a lower end budget.
I look forward to the new appointment, I think people have been so focussed on getting rid of Mick that very very few posts talk about who will replace him. I really hope that the new man comes in with an exciting brand of attacking football and is backed by Evans financially and we really push next year. My honest opinion is I think we will go with another steady eddie who is out of work at moment who will be told he has a limited budget. GROUNDHOG DAY ha ha.
I will have my opinion....... gamble Brian Klug promoted . Fits the 5 year plan idea of pushing the youth and he has great contacts with spurs and who else knows the ‘Ipswich way' better? Few

Beattie: A Great Guy and a Great Coach
at 22:09:42

At a time when a managerial change seems iminant at our club. Let us not forget that 31 years after he was sacked we all thought that it was bad times. Really! He was a great coach, he was my first manager at my first game in 1982. He just couldnt follow the legacy of Sir Bobby in a time when the team was breaking up (WHO COULD HAVE) we are still looking for that man to be honest! Open attractive football, a small, town punching above its weight, great footballers, great times. While I am in no way comaparing the massive input of Bobbys I put as a coach. I have to draw a comparison
A no non sense in your face northern defender who was trying to operate on a small budget. Ultimately deemed surplus to requirements......... oh yes my next years were spent in the West stand watching JOHN DUNCANs teams (the lower league chesterfield manager) WOW that was awful. Anyone remember that? I hope that any change(I do think is necessary) is not knee jerk. If no one better out there stick with what we got in my opinion.
Rest in peace Mr Ferguson and thank you for all you did our club and even though as a manager you weren't shown the respect you deserved when considering what followed you should go down as a clubman legend in my opinion

Ex-England Boss McClaren Linked With Town
at 21:48:28

Ha ha ha wow. He would actually be one of the better candidates as well. I'll behonest I have supported town all my life. My first game was at home to stoke in 1982. My friends dad worked for fisons so I had a lovely introduction in a box followed by a autograph hunting tour of the bar. The autograph sodden programme I'd still very dear to me. Names like Wark, Butcher,Osman,Burley,Gates,Ocallaghan,Cooper all adorn this great and dearly cherished momento.
I am so sorry to say THOSE really WERE THE DAYS!!! We are not the club we were 36 years ago, we are not the club we were 16 years ago!!!!
When will people accept that we are now a mid table(at best) championship club. That is our budget and that is our ability level.
We all dream of the premier league or a cup run but come on let's be honest with ourselves!!!
I can no longer attend games due to work commitments and to be honest the games I have attended I wish I hadn't because the football I have witnessed I admit is awful to be fair. If I paid every game and paid my money (as I have done in the past) I would be calling for change.
My concern is that while I accept that a change is probable (I do think Mick has done an amazing job in the circumstances) I am very very concerned that all the messages on here just say MIck out but come up with very few better alternatives. I have to be fair and not wishing to be disrespectful but the few candidates banded around are laughable... mccalaren (really) the Cowley brothers (ummm hopeful because youthful energetic but to be honest would they play an expansive game when facing teams like West Brom et al with remit of don't get relegated) Hoddle great fit but can anyone see that?? Keegan (walk away king) taricco (????) Mowbray (failed at boro and more worryingly Coventry) the Dutch guy (we all love the Dutch don't we but for every muhren there is a Marco holster!)
I am not suggesting I know the answer at all. All I say is while I also agree Mick's time is up let's not be disrespectful to the job he has done and accept that his inexcusable tirade at the fans at narwich was a human response to the lack of respect I think he is due for the job he has done.
Answering my own question, if Mick goes who do I want in charge next season? Pearson, Klug, Hoddle, Ruud Gullit?? Phil Parkinson, Harry Potter, Houdini, Paul daniels. I don't know but I know a club in league one such as ours will suffer hugely maybe fatally financially.

Former Blues Boss Ferguson Dies
at 15:58:34

Wow. So sad, he was my first Town manager. He really did have a tough act to follow in following the great man. However, it can not be under estimated how much of an influence he was. He came from being reserve manager and I'm think I'm right in saying that he was the brains behind playing Gates in that between the lines position. He was also a massive influence on Butcher coming through. In Butch's book he sites the stick Ferguson would give him and single him out due to his actual belief in big Tel.
All my very sincere condolences to his family and thank you Bobby for all you did for my club
