Town Confirm Gerken Signing
at 17:03:44

Not seen much of this chap, but welcome to the club.

Be interesting to see if he is the direct replacement for ALB as No.3 and whether we'll still look to get in Henderson on loan as No.1 with Loach as No.2; Or whether we'll just stick with Loach & Gerken to fight it out for No.1, promoting a youth team GK as 3rd choice cover.

Southend Defender Linked
at 13:10:23

clegg - Ricketts is primarily a left back, Stearman is a right back (or centre back); so don't think it will have any bearing.
This guy Clohessy sounds decent - player of the year & in team of the year. But is it anymore than just a tabloid link?!?

Town Down to "Bare Bones" For Season Opener
at 14:09:07

It might be bare bones but it won't be fair off our strongest XI. Loach; Edwards, Chambers, Smith, Cresswell; Luongo, Hyam; JET, Stevenson, Martin; Chopra. Bench will have ALB, Ainsley, Whight, Lawrence and Scotland which is a decent mix and if we also include Burke and Thorsteinsson in the squad it will be good experience for them. We're at home v Bristol Rovers in the League Cup - we should have enough to win with that team!

Carson and Hyam Making Progress
at 09:15:40

It's good that Jewell has come out and said this. For me Carson should at least be on the bench every game and personally now the season is over I would start him ahead of Murphy - especially if we're not likely to sign Daryl in the summer.
As for Hyam, along with Drury, he effectively saved Jewell his job! We were a joke of a side before those 2 came in and I think he's been treated pretty badly to be dropped for Leadbitter and Bowyer - both of whom may not be at the club next season!
Hope they both play a much bigger role next season.

Murray on Target for Swindon
at 20:22:09

@streety86 Rhodes went on loan to Oxford, Rochdale and Brentford and had a record of pretty much a goal a game. We all knew he would score goals wherever he went. As for Murray I certainly never slagged him off, just said I didn't think he would make the grade. I've seen him fleetingly in his few appearances at Town and I work with a Swindon season ticket holder who doesn't really rate him and thinks his performances have got progressively worse. He'll be back next year so we'll see what happens. I hope he's brilliant!

Murray on Target for Swindon
at 06:47:12

I actually agree with Garv. His good performances for Swindon have been few and far between and just 4 goals for a Champions elect side in League Two for a striker is not a great return considering how long he's been there. I also hope I'm wrong but I don't think he's one to make the step up.

Wright Hoping for First Team Return
at 21:35:15

Although I think Daleyitfc may be a bit OTT to suggest Wright is better than Hart, Robinson, Foster etc. I certainly wouldn't have a problem sticking him in for the remainder of the season. ALB is a No.2 and always will be and you never know Wright could end up rolling back the years and save us a bit of money in the summer. As Mark has suggested 34 is relatively young for a keeper when you look at Schwarzer & Friedel who are close to 40 and still playing in the Prem. No harm in trying while we're in this situation of not going up or down.

Civelli in Strong Squad for Newmarket Trip
at 21:17:41

Phil, where did you get the squad list from as official site does not give it. Like others I'm surprised no Billy Clark and Wickham - Euro U17's was a while ago now, he better not be sold! He's the only thing thats slightly exciting about ITFC next season!

Stoke Back in Hunt for Walters

Maybe he's not as dumb as we all think...?!?

Both Wrights Amongst Those Released
at 10:17:00

R.Wright - not a regular anymore and will be on too high wages to be a back up keeper - can't argue.
D.Wright - bit of a shame as he's been a good servant and will never let you down with commitment (but as shown for Carroll's goal at the weekend, he has lost any pace he had and won't now take us to the next level).
Balkestein - been overtaken by Smith and Eastman in the pecking order for back up centre backs, so surplus to requirements.
Stead - i think he's hit and miss. Sometimes i watch him and think he's great, next time awful. If Coventry are willing to take him (and Coleman has indicated that he would be) and we get a decent replacement (not sure Murphy is that much better however) then happy to see him go.
Rosenior - had a decent start but faded badly. Looks like a right back will now be one of the five signings Keane has spoke about (probably Bardsley as others have suggested).

Sunderland Want £1m for Murphy
at 09:55:28

I'll be honest, i don't really want him. If we sign him he's not going to be just a squad player, he'll be a regular.
I know Wickham's only 17, but the last few weeks have shown that he can play week in, week out and i think he should next season as he has the quality to help get us where we want to be. Sure rest him every so often so we don't burn him out, but i think he should play more than not.
If we sign Murphy one of 2 things will happen.
1. Wickham won't play as much as he should, or
2. We won't sign a more natural goal scorer (like Chopra, Hooper, Lambert that people have already mentioned)

Keane: Players May Sit on Contracts
at 12:25:28

I agree with Mark... do we need 5 players?!? I think 3, a new left side and a top striker to parner Wickham.
GK - B.Murphy (A.Lee-Barrett)
RB - D.Wright (J.Peters)
LB - *New Player (S.O'Connor)
CB - G.McAuley (T.Eastman)
CB - D.Delaney (T.Smith)
RM - J.Walters (C.Edwards - can't see Keane getting rid of him)
CM - D.Norris (O.Garvan - personally think we should keep him)
CM - G.Leadbitter (L.Martin - again think Keane will persist)
LM - *New Player (L.Civelli)
CF - C.Wickham (T.Priskin/J.Stead - sell one, keep one)
CF - *New Player

Keane: Players May Sit on Contracts
at 12:18:11

To have Pablo as a attacking midfielder you'd have to change the whole formation of the side and either have 3 central midfielders behind him or him at the top of a diamond formation, either way you are limiting the width of the side. I think if Keane was even slightly entertaining that idea then he would have tried it in the last couple of games or minimum in the reserves. If Pablo is still at PR next season it will be because he doesn't want to leave and he will very rarely get a run out... shame, but maybe for the greater good.

Keane: Players May Sit on Contracts
at 11:45:09

We've got such a ridiculously large squad, we need to get rid of quite a few players and i'm not sure how easy he's going to find that as potentially there is a lot to shift (R.Wright, Lisbie, Balkenstein, C.Healy, Quinn, Upson, Trotter, Bruce, Pablo, Stead, Priskin?, Martin?, Garvan?).
And let's hope these 4/5 players he's after will be a bit better than his previous signings! Half have been flops! Only really Leadbitter and B.Murphy from the permanent signings have been any good. Delaney he got lucky with, signed him as a left back and he was awful and has tried him at centre half and its worked. C.Healy, Martin, Edwards, Priskin and Brown his other signings...

Keane Hoping First Year Has Made Him a Better Boss
at 09:39:01

I hope we forget about D.Murphy and D.Healy! A front pairing of Chopra and Wickham, with Hooper as backup sounds very exciting! But we've still got Lisbie, Pablo, Stead and Priskin on the books, we'll need to ship out at least 3 of them if we were to bring in 2 more front men as Wickham will obviously play a huge role next season!
