Swindon Town 1-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 14:47:24

I've supported Town for along time (fifty yearsish). For me this is without a doubt the poorest, weakest, most inconsistent squad we've had in all that time. Apart from a fit KVY I can't name one player that I'd be desperate to keep for next season and that even includes young midfielders with legendary surnames. The inconsistency doesn't even span game to game, it can be first-half to second-half!

Players Given 10 Days Off
at 13:09:02

Well, that dovetails well with my season as a supporter, things had fizzled out before time with me too. After near on fifty years supporting town (turning up for games) I've finally had enough of watching our slow decline (we may not have reached the bottom). Like most sports, the game of football has been degraded by money, or should I say the massive inequality in it's distribution. The distribution of wealth amongst clubs is more unequal than it has ever been and the sums involved are eye-watering. What hope is there for Town or the other fifty-odd small town clubs - ditch any morals left, tart yourself up and let any glory-seeking, egotistical oligarch, despot, oily prince or money launderer know that you're up for grabs and that you can run rings around your dad (EFL). That may give you, in the short term, the £50-100 million needed for a realistic push. But. Is that any way to live?
Marry for money or for love?
My support of ream of a rich Town has ended for now but I'll always be a fan.

Town Announce £5.2m Pre-Tax Loss
at 21:45:16

prebbs007 - I'm not sure what ME's actual interest is in Town. I'm sure it's not a tax benefit. he must be aware that fans have a low opinion of him. Maybe the prestige of owning a football club.

Town Announce £5.2m Pre-Tax Loss
at 17:11:54

Just a few facts to add to the debate, None-one buys a Championship football club with the key aim of turning a profit, unless they're insane. I'm not defending ME but anyone who thinks his motivation for Buying Town was to use it to give him a tax advantage is stupid. What's more, the argument presented on here that he takes advantage of the club's losses to offset his liabilities is simplistic and makes an enormous assumption that he pays all his taxes in the UK. He'd be crazy to do that. ME and other super-rich UK citizens tend to pay very little UK tax as they can easily base their web of companies in off-shore havens and/or other countries. Let's get real. Finally, the most up-to-date stats I could find state that in the 2015/16 season all Championship clubs, apart from one, made a loss. The losses total over 200 million with wages the biggest bill in any club. The only club to turn a profit that season was Wolves, a mighty 731 thousand quid. Having said all that, we are in the s**t all ways!

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 15:38:29

Joao Carvalho - cost thirteen million. Lewis Grabban - cost seven million. Two of the players instrumental in our downfall on Saturday. The only millions Town see nowadays are the miles away they are from competing financially in the Championship. Evans stated before the season started that if he felt he couldn't take Town forward he would willing to look at selling to someone who he thought could. Maybe he's holding out to see if there really is Christmas fairy.

PH has left a mess. Hope Paul Lambert's experience can repair the damage, especially to the players we have that are championship quality. The lack of confidence and belief is plain to see, if he can fix that then we have a chance.

With Hurst in charge we are doomed. He admits the players confidence is low but I think that's the just the tip of the iceberg. It's a mess of his own making really and with every game he confirms that he has no real idea of how to fix things. It's pretty obvious what needs to happen. Our hopes and dreams are in tatters, the gamble has not paid off.

Holland: Horrible Situation at Portman Road
at 14:11:50

As mentioned in a previous post, I've been told some worrying things about the current state of morale in the dressing room. Why should I believe it? Well, it comes from the heart of the dressing room. Admittedly it was second-hand by the time it got to me and I know all about Chinese whispers but if even if only half of it remained accurate by the time I got to hear I think we all have reason to be concerned. Overall, PH and CD have lost the respect of at least some of the players. Over-emphasis on fitness fitness fitness. Manager and assistants 'superiority' has been established (and maintained I guess) by belligerence and lack of respect for some senior pros. Inability to motivate. Some other weird stuff that won't get a mention today. Just look at how we're playing, the seeming lack of will, and consider if any of the above would influence at least some of the players and what they're prepared to give. Add some of the second-rate signings PH has made and what do you get?

Hurst: Probably Our Poorest Performance of the Season
at 19:56:58

Quote, 'we are clearly not the best team in the championship'. Quote, 'we're in a hole'. Your team and your hole Paul. 'Pressing' football? No, Definitely de-pressing football. I have heard today, second-hand admittedly, but from an impeccable original source that Mr Hurst has lost at least some of the dressing room.

Hurst: You Can’t Give Goals Away Against a Side Like Boro
at 10:00:53

Hurst admits confidence is low. His only cure for the errors the low confidence is generating - telling the players 'not to get the ball in certain areas and not to take risks'. What better way to stifle any remaining creativity and confidence some players may still have! Unless Paul Hurst is a completely different character on the training pitch to the one I see standing quietly and anonymously on the touch line (I sit to the rear of the town bench) and speaking in grey and uninspiring fashion at the press conferences I fail to see how he is ever going to motivate or inspire the players to deliver a confident ninety-minute long performance, let alone win a game or two. I hope I'm wrong but I think we all cause to be concerned.

BluesandTruessince82 - careful, your thoughtful, factual and non-abusive post will have people accusing you of being ME in disguise. A rich owner of dubious means ready to splash the cash does is not a guarantee of success, my Forest supporting mate will testify to that. However, I think that ME must give the new manager a modest budget of some kind at least (more than Mick had).

blueboy1981 - I wasn't preaching, just responding to the comments you aimed in my direction. A pity you didn't do likewise to mine.

You're confused about the difference between clapping and condoning, they are different things. What's this campaign you say you're part of? That sounds a bit grand. Ah, the one that consists of slavishly slagging off all and sundry via this site, including any other poster who has a different view of what is happening, then checking how many likes you've scored. Brilliant.

Please explain how I 'assist and condone the continuing demise of the so called club' by continuing to support it as positively as I can, rather than join an online competition to troll the most abusive comments (seen only by other posters I reckon) that I can muster?

Finally, you imply that I'm one of a group of 'accepting losers', and that we're putting the club's future in danger - that one baffles me, care to explain?

Blueboy1981 - so you support the club as it was at some time in the past when they were doing well but not as it is at the moment? In that case, would it be fair to refer to you as a ‘fair-weather' supporter? My ‘time' as you put it started around 45 years ago by the way.

I didn't condone the state of the pitch, so no shame required. Surprisingly we do agree on something though, that it's not looking good at the moment. However, I've seen it as bad in the past and know that the club will sort it out as they always have done.

If you claim to care deeply about the club have you considered that you may be contributing to it's ‘progressively dropping into the gutter' because that's where some of your comments come from.

For the record, I do think it's time for MM to move on and for ME to change his approach and have written to both saying as much (no abuse needed).

Finally, fans are a big piece of the parts that make a football club. Clapping, shouting and supporting positively through the good times and the bad times will never contribute to a club's demise but the opposite approach, negative abuse, booing, abusive comments towards managers, players et al always will.

blueboy1981 - I'm a happy clapper and I don't need excuses!

Here's a question for all posters who are spouting all the abuse - You hate the manager, you hate the assistant manager. You hate the owner. You hate supporters who post anything reasonable or positive. You hate various players. You hate the football. Some of you have even started hating the pitch. You'll certainly hate me after this. What part of Ipswich Town do you actually support?
