It's also a pension fund. They're hopefully after longterm steady returns rather than making a quick buck.

Good post, good insights

I really like what someone else said about a corner stand from the North Stand into the new Cobbold. I know Mark Ashton likes his four stand stadia but that's literally what's needed: something to link the two groups.

As long as it didn't fill up with ever more people going there *for* the atmosphere, not to *make* the atmosphere.

LOWER NORTH - WTF are you doing?! Seriously

Let's be honest. The acoustic problem is mainly because not enough people are joining in. There was no acoustic problem at full time and for the odd song like Town go marching in

Unallocated seating in the lower North Stand would sort things out. Although I think you have to undersell the capacity to be allowed to do that, which would make it a non starter likely

I did this today. Bought a ticket in block A, singing section. Game kicks off. Everyone sits down. 10% people joining in singing mostly. Pretty maddening.

This was the area to the right of the steps as you look at the stand.

Post match buzzkill?

Loudly and slowly announcing other scores before anyone had the chance to celebrate was a bigger buzz kill

Does the drum do anything?
at 19:53 15 Jan 2023

I agree. The drum stomps over stuff constantly, even their own songs. Should be used sparingly to keep people in time, not pumping out samba rhythms so you can't hear anyone's voices.

If we can stretch this to New Zealand, then I suppose my dream team would be:

Number one, Tommy Smith
Number two ooo ooo, Tommy Smith...

I'd sack the fans
at 15:42 24 Nov 2021

Someone said, "we've changed the team, the owners and the manager, what's left to change?"

May I make myself wildly popular and suggest the supporters?

They didn't show up yesterday from the get go. 90 minutes of standing and sitting in silence, with the occasional "hilarious" snide joke or growl of disappointment.

The atmosphere yesterday was somewhere between torrid and poisonous.

Had a great steak and ale pie at half time.

Nice meat, decent pastry and served at a nice temperature.

#PackOutPR donation bundle

I'm talking specifically about the donation bundle, not the overall #PackOutPR campaign:

There's something niggling me about this:

https://www.itfc.co.uk/news/2021/november/pack-out-portman-road-donations/

Isn't it effectively people paying a company for some tickets the company could have given away in the first place?

The people donating are generous. The people receiving are worthy. But the club isn't really doing anything charitable themselves are they? Apart from facilitating the transaction and marketing it I guess (while making £40 a bundle).

Stadium announcer

Admittedly, I only got into the ground about 10 minutes before the kickoff and the PA was barely audible but it seemed to be that the opportunity to big up the entire occasion was missed in how the match was presented.

First competitive match with an unrestricted capacity (a welcome redemption after 18 months to forget)

First match of new era of ownership and a million new players

Just felt like any old game in any old season
