Wantaway Southend Defender Training With Town
at 12:40:42

Just talking to a Shrimpers fan here in the office. He was primarily a centre back. Wins everything in the air and fairly nippy too. He was only stuck up front due to a shortage in strikers and scored a hat-trick in one of his first games in that position. More recently he's been played out wide in what sounds like a Murphy-type role i.e. a target man for the long diagonal ball.

My mate here reckons he could do a decent job at Championship level but he is a real hot head and his energies need to be channelled.

Blues Closing in On Hewitt

Has anybody got any idea how much we have agreed to pay Macc for his services? A quick Google says Arsenal were linked with a £1.75m move for him earlier in the season!

Phil must wonder why he bothers sometimes. You can read the headline. If you're not interested jog on and spare us your negative twaddle.

Town Face Battle for Keeper Kuszczak
at 17:21:11

Umros, it wasn't a statement. It was a case of Jewell playing his cards as close as he possibly could to his chest in a post match radio interview.

If he'd have said "yeah we'd love to have him" the price would have immediately doubled.

Please use the common sense you were born with

Thankyou

Jewell: Grant a Terrific Professional
at 12:45:20

“Is it more than a coincidence that he missed a penalty against Middlesborough and will now be signing for them in a few days.”

He also slammed in a fantastic equaliser in a man-of-the-match performance and celebrated in front of the SBR stand as though we'd just won the cup. But don't let the truth get in the way of a good moan!

Delaney Envious of Reading
at 13:33:46

“I don't suppose the fans are happy with that but when you look at what has happened to some other clubs who have been relegated and then gone down to League One, I suppose you have to look at is a ‘glass half full' situation”

You see this is why I find it so utterly ridiculous that a significant proportion of our so-called fans boo every time we don't win a game by the proverbial country mile. For 40 years this small provincial town club of ours punched massively above its weight. We spent the vast majority of that time in the top tier of English football and for a number of years we were towards the top end of it and won major silverware to boot.

Of course we all want those glory days to return and, with a little patience, I am sure that they will. But at least we have never had to go through the heartache that the likes of Manchester City, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Leicester, Southampton, Forest, Norwich & Charlton have all had to endure while we have been treading water in the Championship. And now, in all probability, we can add Portsmouth and Coventry to that list too. These are all teams who are either as big as or bigger than Ipswich. So I really do wish the boo-ers and moaners would explain to me why we have to put up with their negativity and unachievable expectations.

We have no divine right to be in the promised land but things could be a whole lot worse!

McLoughlin on Trial With MK Dons

Spot on Jabberjackson! You can tell exactly what the article is about from the title. If it's not of interest to you don't bother reading it and certainly don't bother commenting on it and being so pathetically disrespectful to those who go out of their way to provide this tremendous service. Have a word with yourselves!

Town 0-1 West Ham
at 19:18:44

That was a half decent performance against the Hammers this afternoon and I'm a lot more confident about this season now than I was at 10 to 3. Luke Hyam looks really assured at this level and will be a major player for us this season. All we need now is somebody who knows where the back of the net is. Priskin will come good but he needs a couple to bounce in off his backside to get his confidence up in front of goal. Otherwise his all round play is much better than last season. Mac, Walters & Tommy Smith all missed sitters from free headers. If a couple of them had been buried we would have had a comfortable win against Premiership opposition.

Keane After Back-to-Back Wins as the Blues Travel to Scunthorpe
at 17:13:44

I said at the beginning of this run of 4 consecutive away games that 7 points would be a satisfactory return. Admittedly I expected 3 of those from Peterborough and none of them from Sheff Wed but I still stick by my original forecast and anything more than a draw tonight against a team that scraps for every point will be fantastic!

Town Back in Bottom Three
at 11:30:04

Let's not start pressing the panic buttons just yet. We are where we are because of the dreadful start we had to the season and the fact that the likes of Reading & Sheff Wed are starting to put a decent run together. After 15 games we were rock bottom on 11 points having only just won our first game of the season. The second block of 15 games has provided 22 points. Still not exactly promotion form but if we can keep that sort of ratio going over the last 1/3rd of the season we'll be OK. We're only in the bottom 3 on goal difference, 3 points away from 17th and 6 points from 12th with a game or two in hand over most teams above us. The squad of players we currently have is capable of beating most sides in this division. They & we just need to keep the faith and see this dreadful season out without too many more wobbles, like we saw on Tuesday, and then we can start to look towards next season with a bit more optimism.

Keane: Loans Likely in January
at 13:47:22

petermorris said - "where did you get 21 Pablo goals 02/03 from? Include friendlies and training games did you?"

Try the club website:-

League = 17
League Cup = 1
UEFA Cup = 3

Even by my dodgy maths that adds up to 21. Some people's memories are so short!!!

Murphy Out for First Team Place From the Off
at 13:53:03

I think whether Murphy walks straight into the 1st team could be hugely dependant on whether Barrett-Lee continues to prove to be a reliable custodian. He's certainly made a very solid start by only conceeding once in nearly 2 games. If he continues to show that degree of reliability then there's no reason at all why he shouldn't earn himself a longer contract and retain the starting berth.

Did anybody see Begovic's performance against Burnley on MOTD? Can't see David James getting his place back too quickly at Pompey even when he is fit!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This website is currently being spoilt by a few narrow-minded individuals who are incapable of forming a structured argument and spend far too much time chucking petty insults at anybody who dares to hold an alternative point of view. Until we go back to having the News Section for News alone and get all this petty infighting and blogging onto the Forum where it belongs then this website offers very little credibility to the occasional browser.
