Emmanuel Determined to Repay Parents
at 13:37:11

Whilst I admire the dedication of Josh's parents, it seems strange that he wasn't able to use one of the two stations in Braintree to board one of the regular trains to Ipswich rather than being driven each day.

Town Down to Ninth
at 10:58:38

Looks like those clubs that invested in Jan are starting to see the benefits and are pushing on, whereas we have started to stagnate. Disappointing, but there's still hope which I will cling to like the proverbial life raft until it becomes mathematically impossible for us to achieve a top 6 place.

McCarthy Set to Stick With Bart

No doubt that Bart has been impressive and deserves to retain his place. However I'd be much happier if the need to call upon Bart's Banksesque abilities were substantially reduced each game.

Dyer Joins Burnley
at 12:17:41

Maybe it's just time to be realistic. We are a club that is on a fairly good financial footing who are competing at a pretty good level for the resources they have available. It's taken a while to recover from the mess that the Sheepshanks era ended up putting us in financially and personally I don't want my club to go through that again. Just being a pragmatist.

Ten-Man U21s Lose at Colchester
at 12:08:04

Perhaps if the U21's had some player continuity we might start to get some results, rather than having what seems like 11 strangers rocking up for each game with little knowledge or experience of how their teammates play.

Smith Back in New Zealand Squad
at 12:58:10

Good to see Tommy getting some good comments - some of the stick he has had on here, especially during the Jewell regime, was uncalled for. He is still a vital member of the squad, and would be sorely missed if he left. He can only benefit further from working with Mick and the excellent Berra.

Jewell: No Complaints About Effort
at 12:50:58

I have 2 comments to make about the current situation and 2 questions. Firstly, please remember that our team this season has beaten three of the current top 6 teams and drawn with 2 of them. The team has performed well for a period in taking us up to 6th, and the bulk of our current team have been playing week in week out since the start of the season.
What I need some help with is, if we are generally using the same players and generally using the same formation as when we had our good run, what is going wrong now that wasn't going wrong then ???
Secondly, I can't believe the amount of negativity around the purchases of Bullard and Chopra that are now suddenly appearing. At the time, fans welcomed Bullard like the Messiah and considered Chopra to be the steal of the season. Both players have a good track record and I am sure that PJ would reasonably expect that to continue. Now these armchair fans seem to be saying that PJ should never have bought them due to their off the field problems........even though the majority of ITFC fans were in favour of these purchases, and indeed were clamouring for ME to put his hand in his pocket to do everything to get Jimmy in. So, why haven't these worked ? My perception is that MC's skill is not being fully utilised by the way we are set up to play. But what about JB - is his situation the same as MC's or is he just not that committed ??
Interested to know people's views on these points.

Magilton Flattered By Northern Ireland Link
at 09:15:02

Whilst only Assistant Manager at Shamrock, doesn't this still mean that he now has more European football experience than Keane and Jewell put together ? For an inexperienced manager, I thought he did a pretty good job for us. Also, until his sacking I seem to recall that QPR were doing pretty well also ? I think he has been given far too much stick by some fans imo. Good luck to him.

IMO, a good way to gauge what would be reasonable is to imagine what the targetted individual would say or do, if you said it to their face. If I made a howler at work a la Rob Green, then I would expect to get some comments about it from colleagues.
Also, a la Delia, if I got drunk and made a tit of myself, then I would expect to have to endure a number of comments in this regard. I might not like it, but it is my own actions that have lead to this 'banter'.
If however someone told me to my face that they wanted me dead, like Arsenal fans did to Adeboyer, then that person would probably end up on the end of a pasting. This is not banter, this is vitriol, and it is the preserve of the coward in my view, as they can make their comments heard, but hide in a crowd to ensure their anonymity.

Leadbitter Turns Down Initial Contract Offer
at 11:26:10

The question is, is he playing well because he is looking to get a better contract, and if so, will he revert to his old ways once signing on the dotted line ? Or is he playing well because he is playing in a position he enjoys, which within a short space of time has shown him to be an asset to the team ? What do people think ??

Jewell: No Dreaded Call From Fulham
at 13:54:45

Hmmm...ALB hasn't played for us this season so far has he ??? Seem to recall similar comments about suitability being said about Jas Scotland all through the summer. And yet he seems to be the new Messiah now. Maybe ALB is quietly learning from Stockdale (England's number 2 after all), and maybe strong defence would help his confidence as well. If he was still looking as bad as people claim, then I would suspect PJ would have farmed him out by now.

Jewell: Players Will Get Fitter
at 13:41:48

Jury's still out to a degree imo, as it sounded like Middlesborough may have had a bit of an off day. Still, progress is being made and there seems to be a better balance to the side. 2 tough games to come, especially home to Brighton, who are pretty good and quick on the counter I think. There is the chance that the team's lack of fitness and speed may be found out by them.

I for one will be looking to see what I can do to help - Argyle were my Grandad's club, and he would be spinning in his grave about now. AC is doing a cracking job - hopefully this will be the first of many occasions that he is in the team of the week. Reinforces the fact that there must be loads of other L1 and L2 gems like him that we can tap into ? Step up to Championship has not phased him at all.
