I'm pleased we got into Round 2. I actually think we have the squad to be able to put in some of the more fringe youngsters. Obviously depends who we get, but always good to see us string a couple of wins! |

I will honestly say I was not expecting this. This is great news to have such a young talented player. I really would have thought he'd go on load to a club closer to home - but perhaps he isn't really "settled" t'up north. |
| News Comment | Town Keen to Loan Manchester City Youngster But Bolton Favourites at 21:55:39
You need to take into account geography here. Bolton are favourites because they have a great setup, even though they've been in League One. But the main reason is that Bolton is very close to Manchester. This is why they're the favourites. |
| News Comment | Town Face Posh in Double Friendly at 09:36:56
This is a great idea. Everyone saying it's going to be boring and "what is the point" have absolutely no idea why pre-season friendlies exist. They are there to give players competitive game time to improve their fitness, this is just a much more efficient way of handling this and also allows the managers to find out what combinations work by giving the players more game time. |
| News Comment | Town to Face Charlton in Pre-Season at 13:45:53
last time i was at Charlton was 2 or maybe 3 seasons ago when we scored a last minute winner. Guy next to me was so overjoyed he dislocated his shoulder. Good times.. |

Is Hyam going to play next season? That lad needs to drink some more milk. |
| News Comment | Berra: Too Many Drawn Games This Season at 09:35:43
Assuming we stay up, Tom Lawrence should be compensated with the money we would have lost. He singlehandedly saved this club from relegation. What a shocking state of affairs this club has come to where we are relying on Loan signings. Oh wait, we've been doing that for years. Trouble is this time it is a single person. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Town Now Not So Reliant on Lawrence at 09:34:51
The issue with town is that we don't have anyone in the box. We're currently in such a state of flux and transition from playing boring route 1 football to actually passing it around. Last 2 seasons the vast majority of in-play goals were long balls from the back or midfield, with Murphy being the target man and laying it off to someone or taking it himself and scoring. Neither Sears, McGoldrick or Lawrence are target men, they all like the ball at their feet - which is great! The problem is, none of them are poachers or actual "strikers" Watching the Norwich game we had fantastic passages of play. Passing around fluidly and it was great to watch. When we started to put pressure on their defence there was no-one in the box, because Sears likes going out wide, and McGoldrick likes to drop deep. This is why Lawrence is propping us up at the moment, because he has that little bit of extra class and quality and can score from long distance, but super goals like that should be the exception, not the rule. We need the goals from 5 yards too (and I'm not talking about set pieces) That being said, I am looking forward to seeing Sears McGoldrick and Lawrence all back in action, let the tika taka commence! |
| News Comment | McCarthy Delighted to Have Hyam Back Ahead of Derby at 16:44:27
As much as I am a huge fan of Hyam (I've even walked his dog!) I hope MM doesn't rush him back into the starting 11. We've had some really good synergy with the current midfield setup, just wary that putting him in might rock the boat. Give him 30 minutes at the end maybe? |
| News Comment | McCarthy Out to Build on Villa Win at Brighton at 10:07:24
The fans have nothing to be praised for by MM, we've all be gunning for his neck for the past 3 months (deservedly so) Don't complain when he doesn't mention the fans saying its all "me me me" with MM, because when you talk like that you're exactly the same. Brighton is going to be an extremely tough fixture, I am just very grateful we won at Villa against the grain because I doubt lightning will strike twice, Brighton have more quality in attack than Villa do, and if Brighton have that many shots on target, we will not keep a clean sheet, no matter how many brilliant saves our player of the season Bialkowski does. |
