Supple Back in Action
Supple Back in Action
Friday, 4th Sep 2009 14:41

Former Town keeper Shane Supple returned to action on Thursday evening when he played for Gaelic football side St Brigid’s in a Dublin Senior Football Championship game against St Jude’s. The 22-year-old left the Blues by mutual consent last month after deciding a career in professional soccer wasn’t for him.

Supple, a big fan of the GAA games since childhood, took his usual position between the sticks but couldn’t prevent his new team from being defeated 2-13 to 2-12.

Could we have Jim Magilton's golf scores and how many pints Alan Brazil has drunk this week as well?

Can't understand why people are so adverse to finding out what Shane is doing now. Served us well for years, smashing young lad. How quickly people forget.

Yep, nice lad. But gone. What next? Jason Dozell spotted fell walking in the Lake District?

I would rather have a report from Shane's Gaelic football team than the latest attempt to sign Darryl Murphy. Indeed, perhaps we could have a special feature on Shane later in the season, how he's getting on in with the GAA, any regrets, has he got a proper job yet, etc. It is incredibly rare for a young footballer to give up football when playing at a pretty high level, this makes it incredibly interesting.

2-13 to 2-12 is that almost a draw? And how many goals did Supple let in?
0

gordon added 16:15 - Sep 4
He let 2 in I think. And 13 went over the bar, which meant he lost. Supples team only got 12 over the bar.

He'll regret his decision when proping up the bar in 10 years

Rorschach, yes I'd like to know about Supple. Is that OK with you? Might not interest you, but it interests others.

Using your theory, I assume you weren't interested in Sir Bobby either as wasn't "ours"?

Just out of interest what colour socks did Supple wear? The only thing that interests me about this story really is if St. Brigid's will be paying any compensation to ITFC for his services!! Come on folks lets all simmer down in the big scheme of things its not hugely important what Supples up to now, on the other hand some fans may want to know how he is doing, can we just respect that we may have different opinions, would be nice if we all thought the same, but thats not gonna happen........ hold on, yes it is!! we all want to see Town gain promotion, there I knew I'd find something we could all agree on!!

So, all of you who are moaning about how irrelevant this story is, do you not see the irony in spending time to comment on such an irrelevant story?

Nice to see he's moving on. I'd like to see what he does later in life after deciding to leave football.

Good luck to Supple, a good lad who had the guts to take a very hard decision. I think a lot of town fans are interested to see how he progresses in what ever he chooses to do next. Just because he leaves our club does that mean he ceases to exist?

Perhaps he prefers the more relaxed sport instead of being shouted at by mr keane day in day out. Good on him!!!!!!

St Brigid's need to be reported, as they have clearly tapped up a young player and made him walk out on his contract. This is a discrace and I believe such an action now carrys a 16 month transfer ban.

I find it ammusing you moan about it, yet still comment on it?
