Second Wright Set for Palace
Second Wright Set for Palace
Monday, 28th Jun 2010 12:27

TWTD understands that released keeper Richard Wright will opt to join fellow former Blue David Wright at Crystal Palace next season. Defender Wright is set to be unveiled as George Burley’s first Eagles signing today.

Town let both Wrights leave at the end of last season with the former England keeper subsequently holding talks with West Ham and also reportedly interesting Charlton.

The 32-year-old ex-Arsenal and Everton keeper probably favours a move to Selhurst Park ahead of a return to the Hammers because he is more likely to play regular first team football for the Championship side.

Former Town keeper-coach Malcolm Webster joining George Burley’s staff may also have a bearing on Wright's decision.

Good luck Wrighty's !!! At least now you will have a decent and motivating manager to work for. That's another team that will finish above Ipswich then.......

Is this Richard Wright we're talking about?

PS Can we have Darren Ambrose now, please?

Yorkshire and Positivity — you are two of the dimwitted pro-Keano's I was on about earlier. Yep. Keane got promoted with Sunderland but they had better players there and a crapload of cash. I could get promoted if I had an endless pot of money to spend. Keane is also the idiot who gave Daryl Murphy a whopping contract when he was (and still is) sh@te. Let's summarise Keane's record shall we? This is now his 5th season in management. Season 1 — got promoted. Season 2 — stayed up by the skin of their teeth after spending shedful's of cash. Season 3 — spent shedfuls of cash, spat his dummy out and walked. Keane's players stayed up by the skin of their teeth. Season 4 — Ipswich do sh@te. Need a re-cap of that season do you? Season 5 — Into July and signed nobody and not likely to and he is already talking that he is happy with his squad. Shall I run down what Burley has achieved in his time as manager for you idiots? Keane has done absolutely nothing as a manager and I don't see any signs that it will change. He will go down the same road as Bryan Robson and just fade away and become a Man Utd “ambassador” or something like that. Hopefully he won't take Ipswich down the pan with him. I do genuinely believe that Burley will do better with Palace than our “messiah” will do with us. You guys need a word with yourselves !!!!

If I could bet correctly Yorkshire, I would be a millionaire so I politely decline. Wickedblue, you are happy with Keane so good luck to you. I and others are not.

I am currently drafting a “I told you so” posting to put on here when the sh!t hits the fan and Keano either walks or is pushed. It won't be too long now I suspect and I will really hate to have to tell you pro-Keane dimwits that I told you so but — I told you so !!!!

fatboy, you're funny!
i'm not particularly pro-keane, but burley is very over-rated on here, to summarize as you did
he got ipswich relegated (not his fault though, so we'll gloss over that one). then up through the play-offs at the 5th attempt, had one superb season, then what? Season 2 — relegated after spending shedful's (sic) of cash. Season 3 — failed with a similar squad to sunderlands's when keane took them up as champions, sacked, his signings took ipswich into administration. Derby - spat his dummy out and walked. Hearts -spat his dummy out and walked. Scotland-failed

Shame - as my charity will certainly be the loser.

These pro-Keane dimwits you talk about - would they be Ipswich fans who actually want to support our club - not live in the past - and also cheer on our team, our manager and our players ?

I wonder if Palace fans are already having a pop at Burley for picking up former players like some of our fans have done with Keane...

And why are people even making the comparisons between the two...Keane is our manager, Burley is now the Palace manager, bitching and moaning isnt going to change that so why not just support the players and staff we have for a change, its the first day of pre-season and people are already getting on their backs!!!

Yorkshire, your problem is as follows. You say we should cheer on the team which is quite correct. I never boo players as it is counter productive. The problem is that you also state that we should all cheer the manager?? Why?? What has she done to deserve it? Please tell me why I should cheer the manager when I think he is clueless?

This is a joke, we need these 2 guys, Keane sounds like he can't/isn't allowed to sign anyone, last one out turn off the lights!!!
Good luck to both Wrights who have been good servants & will enjoy working with a good manager.

Great trades for Palace. We will probably end up paying £2m for their equivalent

Should be an interesting season. Burley doing great business at Palace already in the short time he has had. Keane has had since the end of last season saying we need some more players in and ship a few more out, now the current team maybe good enough. Not looking forward to the start of the season, could be like watching England in the World Cup......painfully poor.

All the best richard! crystal palace i think will be a tough side to beat next season got some good players and a very good manager! Burley has done more work since he joined palace then what keane has done since the final game off the season! Burley knows what he is doing and has grabbed 2 bargains. Im sorry keane has not got a clue bad decision after another. No excuses.
