Swans Boss Rodgers Would Consider Scotland Loan
Swans Boss Rodgers Would Consider Scotland Loan
Friday, 28th Jan 2011 10:58

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers says he would consider signing Town striker Jason Scotland on loan, if he became available. However, the Northern Irishman is yet to make an approach for the 31-year-old former Swan, who joined the Blues from Wigan in the summer.

Rodgers said: “He is someone who had two fantastic years here and scored a lot of goals. Everyone knows Jason’s qualities and if he became available for a loan we would have to consider it.

“There was a possibility to buy him in the summer, but we didn’t have that sort of money and there were other things we needed to look at at the time at the club. But he is certainly a player that could be interesting.”

The ex-Watford and Reading manager says he has as yet made no move for the Trinidadian: “I don’t know what the situation is with him because I’ve not asked the question. Maybe it’s a case that he wants to play, but I’ve not spoken to anyone and he’s an Ipswich player.”

Elsewhere, former Blues boss Roy Keane has been somewhat speculatively linked with the manager’s job at Sheffield Wednesday currently occupied by Alan Irvine.

slippery, I wouldn't call us cheapskates for not forking out 45k a week for one possibly injury prone, 32 year old player in the championship. That's just risk reduction.

We are not paying out 45K p/w for Bullard.
Scotland won't be going anywhere if we cant get Austin...which appears to be the case. Scotland is our leading scorer with 7, along with Norris, so we would be stupid to loan him out.
I am just so sad to see that our club (well it used to be!) has been so botched up. 21 contracts closing in the summer...and a profound inabillity for the guy who is responsible for them to actually offer terms to prespective players who would have the ability to get out of the mess we find ourselves. Scarey!

Agreed Scuzzer we would have to be as daft as a brush to loan out Scotland before replacing him.....Hello Mr Clegg. Whats that? You've been on the phone to Swansea?

You may as well take him two thirds of our squad going in the summer and no money for new players town joining a five a side league next season!

Wage structure is the problem, most players want the best wage they can get and ipswich are struggling, and have done for a long time, to attract and keep players, it is worrying and Clegg is responsible for signing players and contracts.
