Full-back or midfielder Shane O’Connor has been named in the Republic of Ireland U21 squad for their friendly with Portugal in Ãgueda on Friday 25th March.
The Cork-born youngster is yet to win an U21 cap having been pulled out of squads with a hamstring injury and a suspected bout of appendicitis this season.

This is a lad that I really think has a bright future in the game. Good to see him well again.

I agree - O'Connor should be in at left back instead of a loan player.

I was surprised that he and Jamie Peters were not brought on against Reading, would have added so life to a jaded looking side? Good luck and hope you get selected to play.

Midfield left rather than left back imho. Good prospect, who I hope develops with us, but not tall enough for left back role.
