Preston winger Keith Treacy is expected to join the Blues on his return from international duty with Ireland, according to one of this morning’s tabloids. Treacy, 22, was first mentioned in connection with Town on Saturday.
Today’s report also claims Portsmouth are the favourites to sign Treacy’s club and international team-mate Sean St Ledger. The Blues are also understood to be interested in the 26-year-old centre-half having had a bid turned down in January.
Dubliner Treacy, who is valued at around the £1 million mark, came on as an 83rd minute sub and won his fourth Republic of Ireland cap last night as his side beat Scotland 1-0 to claim the Carling Nations Cup.
Former Town loanee Darren O’Dea was also in the team, taking over from Blues central defender Damien Delaney, who had played in Tuesday’s 5-0 defeat of Northern Ireland and was an unused sub. St Ledger pulled out of the squad due to a knee injury.
The Republic of Ireland take on Macedonia in a Euro 2012 qualifier in Skopje on Saturday.
