Priskin Set for Derby
Priskin Set for Derby
Tuesday, 22nd Nov 2011 22:21

Town striker Tamás Priskin is understood to be on the verge of joining Derby County on loan. The Hungarian international was a surprise omission from today’s reserves side which beat West Ham 3-2 in a friendly at Playford Road.

Talks are believed to have taken place regarding a one-month loan to go through before Thursday's 5pm deadline, presumably with a view to a permanent deal in January.

The former Watford man, whose contract is up at the end of the season, has spent much of his career with the Blues away from Portman Road having previously been on loan at QPR and Swansea City.

Priskin made his only Blues appearance of the season in the 3-2 defeat to Doncaster prior to the international break, before being left out of the 16 at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Town signed the 25-year-old for £1.7 million from the Hornets in the summer of 2009 but despite famously scoring the winning goal in last season's Carling Cup semi-final first leg victory over Arsenal, has never really established himself with the Blues.

In between his previous loan spells, the 6ft 1in tall frontman has made 35 starts and 24 sub appearances, scoring nine goals.

Can we insist he plays against us for Derby?
£1.5m fee; going to leave on a free.
Coupled with Leadbitter going for free as well, great business by Keane & Town.

Clearly doesn't want to be here and Jewell doesn't rate him - frees up wages for a move for someone like Sharp? Must have been one of the highest earners here - £15k a week??

Shame it didn't work out, but we need everyone pulling in the same direction

If they area going to leave in the summer for free anyway as it seems, surely the best businees move now would be damage limitation - let them go for free in Jan and save 6 months salary?

i can't bear the thought of another Norris/Mac 'i would sign if only i could get what I beleive i'm worth' situation meanwhile I'll take the money from Ipwsich while my agent starts a dutch auction.

Add Scotland for £750,000 and Fulop for £1m you then see why Jewell has such a massive job on his hands.

Bid £3m for Townsend and Livermore. Give them 4 year deals and build round them and Cresswell.

I felt at the time he was overpriced, to be honest apart from the Arsenal goal he has giving us very little, not worth 10% of his fee. More worryingly is the £m we just keep flushing down the drain, no wonder we were in huge debt before we sold Wickham.
I fear the loanees won't stay after Jan and I see bleak times ahead, such a shame after a promising start.

at home to derby on the 17th december, bet we are not smart enough to say that he cant play against us, and he'll score, but then again everyone scores against us

Suepect he needs very carful man management to get the best out of him- and I also suspect that Priskin playing to 100% probably is not very good.
Thought that Jewell may have improved him but am sure Jewell has an excuse or someone to blame (other than himself of course) for why Priskins form has not changed.
Hope he can turn himself round if he goes

Shame it didnt work out here. He defanatley has talent but always seem so lazy and unwilling to work hard for it. I think he will ine day become a very good championship player. And i actually believe hes style is more suited to the premier league.

I think he will prove everyone wrong one day, under the right management he will score goals and has the ability to change games.... I for one am a little sad but I do know where everyone is coming from.....!!

Mickmillstash .. Priskin is a professional who has now played for Keane,Warnock,Rodgers and Jewell and has not proved anything to any of them enough to regularly play him ?
Perhaps rather than have another pop at Jewell realise he was a way overpriced panic signing by Keane who has scored a few high profile goals in four seasons of English football and may not actually have a very good attitude or be that great just because we payed a lot of money for him

Priskin is not going to be one of the high earners here and based on our previous 2 performances why would Sharp want to join our side. We don't need any more players, we just need to get this team to gel over the rest of the season, not more signings.

I feel he was never given an opertunity at town. Every time I see him he was as a lone striker with no service, what do you expect he is going to do in them situations?

tractorboy2434 added 09:46 - Nov 23
The operative words here are a 1 month loan with a VIEW to a permanent deal, once he has been there a month and they have got over their injuries and seen him we all know what will happen, he will be back here in Jan like a bad penny, he will then take the money and leave on a free in June, nobody will be foolish enough to sign him permanently except Ipswich !

Love when the 'knowleadgables' on here say he is more a 'premiership player' total BS , He is not a Conference Player - it aint just about ability , attitude , desire , commitment , He has none of it . I tell you why I know , The Watford guys who train their Academy up the road could not believe we paid that for him - He was the same when there , lazy , lazy . So apart from 'the goal' vs Arsenal - what a waste of money . Real shame really when someone who has ability just does not apply it .

Byeee! My favourite Tama memory was in the pre-season friendly at Needham Market when he wouldn't pass the ball to Colin Healy because Colin kept calling him 'Thomas' - little things! Oh, and he was dreadful in that game too.
However, I feel that the right club with the right system may see him score a few - bit of a waste really.

what a shame he was my town player of the year 7 years in a row i cant understand why he was never picked for england .
one of the top 3 players in europe i reckon, barcelona or real madrid will snap him up , i can see him being one of the worlds best and most famous players with his prolific free scoring game, his never say die attitude and his devout loyalty to his club and team mates .
this player was a giant of a man for town i would rate him up there with leadbelly and lisbie
