In an 'how others see us' vein I find this story interesting because a mainly left wing group are wrapping themselves in the national flag and taking selfies after rolling back a piece of legislation that started with Pinochet, they see themselves as having won a victory over the establishment. Whilst we may see Brexit as opportunists looking for short term gain and unconcerned about long term benefits of social alignment in Chile they want to identify it with getting your pension early, a touch of the George Osborns. I can understand the need to get financial support, in a Keynesian way they are applying the 'why worry about the distant future, in the long term we all dead' approach and coronavirus is draining the populace of money now. But the government there do have a point with forecasting that a 10% payout now will have an adverse effect on the whole fund and on international opinion about the Chilean economy.
