2.00 Chepstow - Meghan Merkel - an American/German bred filly, often difficult at the start, races prominently but is often caught out by a few as she enters the home straight. May need a brisk pace. 2.30 Brighton - DukeaSussex - a flame-haired colt, recently gelded, needs careful handling and can run a bit headstrong. Can be self-indulgent over longer trips, needs 'keeping up' in interest and cost a bloody fortune at sales in California. Expect to see being soundly thrashed over the final furlong. 3.00 Yarmouth - The Peed - well-thought of in the stud, where he'll happily couple with other thoroughbreds and young mules alike. Previously owned by a Mr Jepstein, who ran him frequently in Little St James stakes and stabled him in mansions. Can run a bit too freely and can cost backers a fortune as a result. Needs gelding, preferably with a pair of bricks and a sharp stick. Previously won the Duchess of York stakes in the UK, but none of the other runners fancied the going, so difficult to frank the form. Needs horsewhipping and stabling somewhere out of sight. | |
