ITFC Foundation/Futurestars volunteering evening 14:22 - Nov 11 with 546 viewsCrayonKing

I went along to this last night and came away happier than I've been in a long time at how well the club is engaging with community again. It also left me angry at how much this area of the club was neglected by the previous owner, when it has the potential to do so much good in Suffolk and beyond. Luckily it seems like the new owners are 100% behind the trust and are doing everything they can to re-engage.

Some highlights:
-Foundation is the fastest growing area of the club
-Buy-in from the players. Examples were: Edmundson helping to coach the disability team on Thursday nights, and buying them new kit earlier in the year. Burgess helping out at the dementia cafe and encouraging teammates to do the same.
-Pretty much everything the Futurestars charity is doing in Ghana. Great to see the club/foundation working so closely with them.

Feels like we've got a really good bunch of people at the club, both players and "suits", and it's great to see after so many years of neglect.

It's good stuff but fairly basic and inexpensive stuff. Which makes it so much worse that Evans cut back on any sort of community engagement.

Cheers for the recap on here.

Absolutely. In terms of financial commitment from the club it must pretty-much pay for itself. Most of the funding is from donations and volunteering, and the goodwill it generates must have financial benefits for the club that outweigh what they put in.

Just crazy to disband it the way Evans did. Seeing the contrast now is a good reminder of the important role football clubs can play in their communities, when they're allowed to.
