Stephen Foster 16:24 - May 2 with 7502 viewsITFC_Heaven

This will probably get some downvotes and it’s just my opinion but Stephen Foster needs to be replaced as the stadium announcer, far less charismatic than Rob Chandler was. I’ve visited 15 away grounds this season and every single one of them have had someone who’s far more exciting on the mic and sounds far more up for the game than ‘Foz’ ever is.

Even Simon Milton sounded far better during his couple of minutes on the mic on Saturday afternoon.

Love to read others thoughts on this.

Foz is a top guy and brilliant on the radio. I thought he had improved considerably in the second half of the season being a bit more upbeat. However, it does need a bit more charisma and personality when broadcasting live to a pumped up audience.

Rob had it nailed, would love to see a return, but suspect its unlikely. Also hoping that part of the ground improvements include the speech sound quality of the PA system, as its still impossible to hear anything like an interview.

Think he's improved as the season's gone on, and that you can never hear the HT interviews properly isn't really his fault as they still need to fix the PA system, but it has to be said the role doesn't suit him. Didn't have much authority when trying to get the players to gather round after the match on Saturday anyway!

Rob Chandler played it perfectly - the right about of charisma and 'hyping up' without sounding like a cheesy children's entertainer which is the other end of the scale from Foz which some stadium announcers fall into. Fair enough Chandler would rather experience Town as a fan now so understandable he's unlikely to come back.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

What really grates me is when he shouts "come on you blues". I don't know why, but it's tacky, old-fashioned and really annoys me. I'd get rid of him for that alone

Foster is appalling. He is just so boring and monotone. I really don't know how he ended up with the job.

Am sure I read somewhere (probably on here so obviously true) that he was overlooked when Rob Chandler got the gig and was "promised" first refusal when Rob gave it up. No idea if its true, kind of fits that the job went to someone who is sadly not really right for the job. Nice guy, perfect for local radio with his knowledge of the local music scene, but incredibly dull and monotonous, ill suited to this role

Saying that, his announcement around the Exeter subsitution in the 2nd half was very amusing "...I have to be honest I have no idea who left the field for Exeter as I wasn't watching"....!

Also, I wish they'd let us know the half time scores from other games, either announce or using the big screen, considering 3g/4g is so ropey in the ground.
