Morning all, I just wanted to share this fundraiser with you to try and help Ronnie's family towards reaching the target. Despite our occasional, petty squabbles, you're a fine bunch and usually very generous with this sort of thing. Ronnie is known to my son and quite a few of his footballing pals, many of them attend the same school as Ronnie. This terrible event occurred less than 500 yards from where I live and I was standing at my back door looking out when the those lightning bolts came down, the light was blindingly bright, followed by the loudest clap of thunder I've ever heard. To think that any person took the brunt of nature's fury and managed to live, is testament to the human body and the quick thinking members of the public that administered CPR to Ronnie until the Ambulance arrived. There are conflicting stories of exactly what happened, even amongst those who were playing and watching the game, but a man (believed to be the lino) was struck by a lightning bolt as the teams were leaving the field of play due to the thunderstorm. Ronnie either went to assist the man, or to fetch his water bottle (these are the conflicting reports) but either way, as he did so, he was struck by a second bolt of lightning and his heart stopped. The man appears to have been luckier than Ronnie and is recovering well. This is all public knowledge. What I can tell you, is that Ronnie was in a considerably worse condition, but I am happy to say that he is making good progress currently, he is now able to breathe on his own, his kidney's are working and he is showing signs of being aware of touch (when his face was washed). Ronnie is still critically ill and nobody can be certain of what the future holds, but he will probably need a lot of support moving forward. Any donations would really help the family and are greatly appreciated. I hope the link works, I'm not great with these things: https://gofund.me/d4e8667e | |
