Maybe the mother was hoping that the young lad will have disappeared when she got home .such is the feral upbringing of a lot of these kids..he wil grow up to be another thug and in and out of jail.

I think most of us think that.

There's every chance that young man, with the right support around him, could make something of his life. At 11 he might not quite beyond the point of no return just yet.
The sad thing is that the support often just isn't there.
Neglect is a crime and I suspect from the Judge's strong words, the mother will find herself in very hot water.
I just hope this lad gets a break somewhere.
