Phil G, Enciso and Jelert - formation and approach 14:24 - Jan 22 with 1382 viewsNeverSayDie

I think there's little doubt that McK didn't want to change the shape of the team to accommodate a 5 back, but the performances for the first half of the season proved that we just didn't have the quality at the back, or going forward, to make it effective and there was a need to become "hard to beat". However, it has been really hit and miss, mainly miss in the new setup, as we've really struggled to transition to a goal scoring threat once we've recovered the ball, as we've been lying so deep.

The new signings, I believe, will almost certainly see us to revert back to the favoured 4231 and really attack the second half of the season, lets face it, we need to, wins are essential.

Jelert (or another similar RB) could become the most influential factor in our remaining games, when was the last time we had a genuine RB playing RB/RWB? For such tender years, he boasts a lot of experience at the top levels of the game, having appeared in both the Europa and Champions Leagues, so he knows what he'll be up against. He also strikes me as more of a Leif Davis type player, he likes to get forward and has very good delivery into the box, which would be huge for us, as it has been too easy to identify Davis as our main attacking threat and sides have been relatively successful at blocking him out of the game; the ability to switch flanks in attack and be just as effective, would be monumental for us, this would be a very shrewd signing IMO.

I do think we really, really, really need to sign a big, physical CM to accommodate the 4231, we just aren't at the races in the middle most games and it puts way too much pressure on the CB's. This is a position that doesn't seem to be at the forefront of a lot of fans "wish list" but it's critical IMO, as is another 9, we simply can't continue to rely on Delap playing virtually every minute, of every game.

Jelert rumours are wide of the mark according to EADT

Town still want to add another striker before the deadline of February 3, but it's understood reports linking Galatasaray and Denmark full-back Elias Jelet are wide of the mark.

Shame, but if Axel can stay fit, not critical, just would be nice to have. The attackers and formation are what’s going to make the difference, we need to score more goals.
