Do we have any idea what kind of loan fees we are being paid for our players? I doubt we are getting much at all, if anything. A poster replied to my comment on the Chaplin story "Of course there will hsve been a loan fee. No player goes on loan without a fee being paid", but I don't think that is right. Indeed, sometimes the club taking the player on loan only pays a proportion of the wages (such as us with Phillips last year).
I don't think we will get any loan fees for Barbrook or Slicker, as they have gone to smaller clubs for experience.
Al-Hamadi we know is a £3m commitment for Luton to buy at the end of the season, although I read about these type of deals and apparently they often contain clauses to be met.
Muric has the 10m Euros option to buy, although that feels rather meaningless as I doubt Sassuolo will pay that. I hope they paid a loan fee, but I wonder if they really did given we wanted Muric's wages off our books.
Chaplin was done rather last-minute and I would be surprised if Portsmouth paid much of a loan fee, although I hope they did.
Ogbene is perhaps the most likely to have a decent loan fee given he cost us £8m a year ago and has gone to a club with parachute money. Taking into account his wages and injury though, maybe just a small loan fee. |  |
