so there I was having a trawl/gloat on the budgie forums the other night when I came across this post about the proposed changes at Carrot Rd…ok..so he’s a budgie but you have to feel for him and others who find themselves in the same situation..I guess that’s how some of those who were turfed out of their Cobbold seats felt a little while back….
actually think I'm done with it. I've been in my seat over 30 years.
If I'm shunted to some upper tier seat in the River End or Barclay then I'm definitely gone. They might sit our four seats together somewhere, but they won't be putting the old boy and his grandson who sit in front of me and have done almost the entire time. You don't know them outside of football, but they make the matchday.
His grandson brings his kids when there is a ticket available, I bring mine, watching them grow up makes you feel old as you can remember when they spent the match being held but now they're jumping up and down. Years and years ago a couple took tickets four seats up from us who just so happened to live up the road from my old man. Now just the wife goes as a widower. I know nothing more than their names and the village they live in but it was a gut punch when they didn't show up and my old man said what had happened, and somehow and even bigger gut punch when she showed up alone for the first time. She still goes. I won't be sat near her next season. The Mum and daughter who've sat in front and to the right for more than a decade who still occasionally bring up the time I turned up absolutely hammered v Chelsea and they were terrified I was going to throw up down their backs. I won't be sat near them next season.
I'm not sure this is my football club anymore.

Absolutely. Those of us who have been in the same swat for years can all relate our won version of this, don't even know half of the names but they are part of the whole experience of watching football regularly. |  |
