One problem with a lot of these news stories about prospective signings 09:56 - Jun 21 with 728 views | Guthrum | is that we don't know exactly where they fit in the timeline. Whether they are new developments, or a recounting of situations we are already aware of. News outlets are not always right on the ball when it comes to up-to-date reporting and sometimes copy each other to fill page space. For example, does the information in the Seagrist story about a bid being rejected predate the Football Insider 'set to beat' one, or vice-versa? Is the Express and Star story about Harper merely a restatement of facts from a week or more ago, or does it represent a new position? This has to be borne in mind when citing them as evidence for the latest developments in negotiations which are not being conducted in public. [Post edited 21 Jun 2021 10:04]

One problem with a lot of these news stories about prospective signings on 11:27 - Jun 21 with 574 views | SaigonTractor | As a general rule unless I see the words "TWTD/EADT understands" before a transfer story I'm taking it with a pinch of salt. Because you're right. From our point of view we've had a bid rejected, upped a bid, then had it accepted all in the space of a morning. But this has likely happened over the course of weeks, if at all.
One problem with a lot of these news stories about prospective signings on 12:17 - Jun 21 with 477 views | HighgateBlue | It is incredible that many don't seem to understand this, but you are obviously right. Given that we do not know all of the timelines or the sources, pinches of salt are required, and we should treat it all as tittle tattle until there's a player with a Town scarf on (and even then - Ian Crook.......). Also, there will be many negotiations that occur without any 'linking' in the media. I would very much like a substantial number of new signings, and will start to get worried in a short while if there are not more (given that we NEVER seem to have a proper pre-season in which we can plan), but the fact that numerous players are not being linked does not mean that deals are not in the pipeline.
