It would have been far fairer / simpler to reduce VAT - or am I missing something? (Apart from helping their mates)

It would be far better to not have tax cuts in any form. The currency crash and bonds/Gilts is due to the negative outlook on the UK repaying it’s debts as well as a generally awful economic outlook due to these policies.

Targeted help for those struggling would have been much better, but we know they do not care about that demographic, nor any imagination.

We need a vote of no confidence, but there are no doubt too many cowardly Tory MPs in the game of (short term) self preservation.

Free school breakfast and lunch for all kids.

95% windfall tax on oil and gas superprofits.

Nationalise energy distribution. Price cap matching french level.

Call a general election so competent people can run the country for the benefit of the british people.

I'm not a big fan of VAT at all as it does clobber poorer people significantly, however we all know that if VAT was dropped, shops and other businesses would just pocket the difference and the public would be no better off. See petrol pumps and oil prices etc.

The govt. must be banking a bonanza with the VAT on the increased petrol prices.
