Academy to shut down tomorrow, with players and staff requested to leave.

Club itself to shut down on Monday, no money will be left and staff will no longer work having not been paid.

The owner does seem like a complete plank doesn’t he. Marcus Evans rightly gets a lot of stick for how he ran this club, but he also deserves credit for ensuring we found a good buyer and for helping that deal go through (including waving loads of debt he’d racked up). Ultimately he put the club above his own interests or any ego. It doesn’t look like this guy is able/prepared to do the same.

True. I wasn't his biggest fan. However looking at Morecombe and Sheffield Wednesday, he wasn't a bad guy in the end. I think he bought a football club for all the wrong reasons and was out of his depth.

Worth noting that Panjab Warriors, who were trying to purchase the Club, are not exactly easy to investigate.

What a horror show.

The last league game I got to go and watch at Portman Road was vs Morecambe just a couple of years ago when I was back in the UK visiting family. Crazy how wrong it's all gone for them since, while we've had the joys of a double promotion and the whole PL circus.

Surprised Tyson Fury hasn’t stepped up, but then if the owner is being a dick suppose he can’t.

I seem to feel this is not there first time to almost go out of business. Being such a small town with having Preston, Blackburn, Burnley, Bolton all less than 30 minutes drive from them, they don’t stand a chance in pulling in a big crowd.

I live few miles from the club. Fans I know gutted completely and anger towards chairman.

I think this is nonsense. Just because there are worse owners out there, doesn't mean that he should receive credit for getting a good owner to replace him. He was umming and aching on whether to sell too.

As a minimum, the previous owners should be expected to put the club in the right hands. If they can't, they should be forced to sign it over to the fans.

It is not credit-worthy that he lucked out that Gamechanger were decent and could see our potential.

Might leave an opening for a successor club to start up, free from that owner.

Nonsense.

Our previous owner completely fcked this club for his entire 12/13 year ownership.

The fortunate thing was that the business that owned the club was literally named after him so he had no choice but to ensure that the handover was decent and all debts accrued due to his piss poor management of the club written off. He wanted to save his own face and protect his somewhat questionable business.

Absolute clueless owner that wasted the time of almost a whole generation of Town fans. I still don’t understand why a man so completely clueless about the workings of a football club bought a club. But then again, who had honestly heard of Marcus Evan’s prior to his takeover.

As they say, no such thing as bad publicity.

Why can’t people read on here? “Marcus Evans rightly gets a lot of stick for how he ran this club”.

I would argue that Evans passing over to Gamechanger and writing off the debt was a lot better than bankrupting us into non-existence, but happy to disagree.
