Mark Ashton's true apology: 11:29 - Mar 28 with 338 viewsNorthLondonBlue2

Here’s what a real apology from Mark Ashton would have looked like:

“I’m very sorry that I invited Nigel Farage to come to Portman Road and to use the club for his party political purposes, including taking promotional photographs. It would have been very wrong of me to allow any politician to use this club to promote their political beliefs, and especially so given the controversy around Mr Farage in particular.

I’m also very sorry for allowing supporters to be misled by the club’s official response to the furore, which did not reflect the whole truth and fact that I had lunch with Mr Farage and gifted him replica shirts with his name on them.

I recognise that I have exercised very poor judgment over this episode and have brought the reputation of Ipswich Town Football Club into disrepute.

For these failings, I apologise unreservedly and have tendered my resignation.”
