Butcher: Invisible Wounds 22:35 - May 16 with 591 viewsdidsburyblue

Last night I was privileged to be invited to the premiere at King Street Cinema (Corn Exchange) of ‘Butcher: Invisible Wounds’, the documentary film about Terry Butcher.

Yes, I was always going to watch it because of the Ipswich connection. However, irrespective of this it’s genuinely one of the best documentary-films I’ve ever seen.
A film that goes far beyond football, raising awareness of the horrors of PTSD and mental health amongst forces veterans. A film that will envoke every emotion possible whilst you watch it.

It’s being shown at King Street Cinema from next Friday for a few screenings and I’d strongly advise anyone local to keep an eye on the listings and go and see it.

Alternatively, it is going to be broadcast on ITV 1 & 4 next month to coincide with the World Cup. Watch it, you won’t be disappointed

Does it mostly focus on the loss of his son?

No. Whilst the narratives are interwoven to an extent, it does follow a chronological timeline, therefore there’s a good amount of time (I’d say at least 50%) dedicated to Terry’s career before the focus switches.
