We have clearly decided that PL experience is very important. I think that's understandable - we're trying to finish 17th and someone who knows how to do that in this league perhaps with more pragmatism might be what we need.
There's very few options if you decide they need PL experience. I would prefer Ole for various reasons but GON is the more recently successful coach and probably more of a on the grass coach in the KM mould.
GON clearly has ability. Coached in Liverpool's academy, has been entrusted by Blueco with Strasbourg and had two good finishes with Bournemouth and Wolves.
The segment on Monday Night Football showed that he has the coaching detail needed at the top.
However, we got here through being bold and not doing the 'tried and tested ' route. I I worry that Ashton has far too much power. GON is not the exciting choice and if we start badly the fickle fans will be up in arms immediately.
I think Ole would have made more sense but if it's GON we have to get behind him.
The fairytale was never going to last forever. We've had an amazing run of it. We now need a sort of 1dare I say it Mick at the end of the 12/13 season now.
KM could never ever be replaced. Once or twice in a lifetime coach. Maybe it's best that he won't be really replaced. We have to get back to some less spectacular more solid seasons to establish ourselves now.
