Impractical for most people, who are not in a position to form self-supporting communities (how are they going to feed themselves, for a start?). Also, isolationism is fine until the disease gets into your community, then you haven't got the capacity to deal with it*.

* See: Eyam in Derbyshire, where they went for strict isolation (with many sensible precautions) during the 1665-6 Plague outbreak. The mortality rate was around 50%, roughly double that in London.

I mean more along the lines of designated people going to the shops for others for now....not sudden self sufficiency from nowhere.
If only community health care and support hadn't been decimated.
