Perhaps it was just a very easy hit after the falling out between McCarthy and the fans and the subsequent Hurst tenure.

Still think it was a very necessary change of dynamic, tho. A warmer approach towards fans, the reintegration of former players into the fold, the encouragement of Blue Action. Overall more positive PR. Shame what happened on the pitch undermined all that.
