Micky Mills made a similar point recently when he went on a bit of a ramble about watching rugby.
Yes, professionals having played/coached the game will view things a bit differently but even the "lay person" having watched the game for many years knows a good performance from a bad one (admittedly there are those on here who seem to confuse "good" with "not as bad" but there you go).
