It was like a 3-1-4-2 formation. You might say 'well we drew that game' but Cambridge played a low block, as have many teams in this league against us but I thought the 3-1-4-2 system was effective at moving their defence around that day and more importantly, creating overloads in wide areas and getting the ball into the box more. This system is something I'd like to see us start with on Saturday. I think we need a change and I think with the personnel available (or lack of centre midfielders available) that it could work. Walton JD/Clarke - Woolfenden - Leigh Morsy Burns - Harness - Aluko/Chaplin - Davis Ladapo - Broadhead/Chaplin I thought Harness was really clever that 2nd half. Burns held width, JD supported/underlapped and Harness was positioning himself well. Creating those overloads is the way to beat a low block and move the opposition out of the spaces they occupy. Hopefully a system change like above would increase the intensity and tempo that's been missing too, all whilst getting two forwards on to the pitch. Just a thought, but I would like to see a change given we only have two fit centre midfielders anyway. [Post edited 15 Feb 2023 13:23]
