Balancing the here and now vs. the next season... 11:48 - Apr 2 with 509 views_clive_baker_

I would imagine there's going to be focus on finishing 3rd bottom. 1) its an additional £3m+ of prize money and 2) its not impossible that 18th would survive on some technicality, although I don't really want that. 17 points isn't the fault of the other cheats, we're going down on merit.

All that said when will we start looking to next season with our selection? Giving Hirst a run of starts given Delap is likely to leave? Taylor too, he'll benefit us more next season than those who wont be here. Chaplin is another one now he's back fit, he's had a bit of a nothing season for 1 reason or another, I would like to see him start the last 6 or so and see if he can find his mojo a little before next season. I'd absolutely love to see him scoring goals in a Town shirt again.

Into 'playing for professional pride' territory now really aren't we? Slim pickings but think you do have to take finishing above Saints and Leicester as a small positive so no doubt that will be the target.

With that in mind can't see us straying too far from what we think is our best team just for the sake of giving 'nest season's players' more minutes. Agree though on Chaplin - think the physicality of the league would have found him wanting more often than not but there's been games he's missed where his ability to pop up in space and look to find a teammate would have been helpful.

It's slowly been happening anyway but think Jack Clarke needs to start at LW/LAM every week now. It'll be him and Jaden sharing that position next season so any extra time for him to get more used to it would be a benefit.

Not sure we've got any yoofs that are in line for threatening the fringes of the squad next season but if we have 18th secure on the last day I wouldn't mind seeing 2 or 3 of them on the bench for a cameo to give the crowd something to cheer about.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.
