That's my read on this season too.
The thing I've really noticed is that they players are all huge athletes, even technical players.
Tonali is a great example along with that whole Newcastle midfield. He's a really good player, technically excellent, but he's also a huge unit who can shift it!

We were in a mini-league of 3 from the start, but we only know that now (well few months ago).
It's not going to to get easier. No idea how we bridge the gap over next season, even if we go back up what would we expect back in the prem? Hopefully a bit better at home but how we come back 15-20 points better...no idea.
Got to get academy working but that is a long game and better recruitment especially in europe. So tough as don't see anyone in the top 17 really failing. |  | | |

Yeah I think you are right. I think most teams we have played were at it and knew the had to beat the promoted teams and it showed.

I think you have to improve enough to give yourself a chance and then just get lucky that another team is a basket case or just has a nightmare.
Honestly, there's a small chance it could have been Wolves this season if we'd accrued enough points early to pile the pressure on when they were floundering . As it was, the new guy came in and it was too easy for them to pull way - could have been a tougher job if they'd had ground to make up maybe? | | | |

The first real game I noticed the difference in physical presence was Everton, thinking prior to the match this is best chance of the season so far to win and the difference in stature when they walked out was really noticeable.

I even thought Arsenal would be small technical players, but even Saka isn't small and much belies the fotbmob stats of his height of 5'10, he was 100% taller than me and would have said closer to 6', same for Martinelli, would have guessed a 5'6 lol, but no, he's probably 5'10.
The whole team just looked 'big' which really surprised me.

Yes, that game was a wake-up call. If we were to have any chance of staying up, we needed to win a few home games like this one. But once they scored, there was only ever going to be one winner. We managed 2 shots on target in the game despite having the majority of the possession. |  |

I was at the Palace vs Wolves game because my neighbour had a spare ticket and the speed that Palace counter is absolutely terrifying - you can see why they have been so successful this season after a tricky start. They had also rested several players, so it wasn't event their full strength team.
