Seems an odd game to start the Women's Euros with.

Don't they usually start with the hosts or holders at these sort of things?

The tournament is a bit strangely organized imo. Trying not to be accused of being chippy, but no England first up (as holders) and our group has easily the most high quality teams in it: goodness knows how they cooked that one up.

Does seem that way.

There's also Belgium, Italy, Portugal and Spain in the same group, which also seems top heavy with big teams. Although I realise they may not equate exactly where the men's teams sit in the rankings.

The gap between the very top women teams (most notably Spain, Germany, England) is enormous compared to even the 8th/ 9th best teams in the tournament.

Italy and Spain should comfortably go through from that particular group.

And now they've had the opening ceremony after it's already opened!
