Simply that their pitch couldn’t handle a few hours of rain.
It was 12 hours of rain, or a rainy day as it’s known.
It wasn’t even several days of persistent rain.
And they’re moaning they have to replay the game. Should count themselves lucky we weren’t awarded a 3-0 win for failing to provide an adequate playing surface.

I thought it was nothing to do with the river anyway, given the downward slope at the side of the pitch is much steeper and higher than at Portman Road. But that only made me think that, with an adequate drainage system, the rain shouldn't have been an issue.
They also didn't have people on the pitch at half-time prodding the pitch as they do at Portman Road, and took an awfully long time after the players had gone off to bring into use the only pitchfork that they seemed to possess.

Brave guy for making this public.
With it being an interview filmed and organised by the club I guess it was a PR decision rather than his and they could have edited it once it had been recorded. If the club hiearchy didn't want this to be the message then I don't think this would have gone out.
It's also only a few years ago that if we'd had the same volume of rain in the same time frame our pitch would have really struggled to cope .

I think that’s extremely unfair to Blackburn. They own six forks and we saw them all
I assumed it was just a bad pitch and the water should be able to drain due to it being elevated (as shown by that gulley around it). Someone did make a valid point at the time that the drains could have backed up if all the drainage was feeding into a swollen river. But we now know that wasn’t the issue. I think the groundsman in that clip is underplaying how bad their pitch is (not surprisingly). That other pitches in the area saw games completed and all the talk about trying to get holes in it suggests the drainage system is b*ggered (the correct technical term, def info).
I’m surprised about the 3” of rain claim too. We had very little rain driving up and walked to the ground without getting wet. It was only through the match it started to get heavy. Maybe it had tipped it down overnight.

As far as I’m concerned that’s a 3-0 win awarded to us plus costs to the club, ticket and travel to the ITFC supporters plus £500 each compo for a wasted day. A 40 point deduction for the season along with compulsory sorting their pitch out for the start of next season or another 40 point deduction.
Oh, and Blackburn itself to be raised to the ground by Christmas 2026 because it’s horrible. That’d give them something to moan about.
