He put in the perfect left back performance last night with the added bonus of being 6'5“ tall. He was so good I think he looks better when more involved in the game. Modern day centre halves don't have so much to do with regards to defending against 1 CF and generally their main role is to move the ball around to start attacks. I think he proves that he has more to offer. His link up play with Jack Clarke was exceptional, when they perhaps should have looked like strangers. Also was very good cover in set plays in both boxes.

Very good. Obviously a different profile to Davis but that's no bad thing away to Cov. He got forward well and showed good quality on the ball I thought, but primarily defended excellently and gave us extra presence in both penalty areas as you say. I thought Furlong did well too against a tricky opponent, not for the first time this season he's kept a very dangerous wide man quiet. He doesn't have the guile going forward but that's not really his profile, he's very solid defensively. |  | | |

Furlong is a better playing than I gave him credit for at west brom. I have won many a £ on him getting booked over the years, but there is more about him. He was ace too and did well to keep his head with mason-clark constantly trying to wind him up. In fact it was a very solid team performance. Credit to the manger for getting it right. | | | |
