Gutted to have lost McKenna but it shows the man he is to walk away from a Premier League job regardless if a 2nd relegation was to appear on his CV. I'll be honest when he was hired, my preferred option was Neil Harris as I thought he was a better fit for the club at the time. Delighted to be wrong , McKenna has transformed us to a club with an attractive playing style that other fans envy and has made the managers position here possibly one of the top 50 in world football. Appreciate Ashton is a marmite figure and like marmite, the whole Reform stuff leaves a sour taste but in a footballing sense he got the McKenna appointment spot on. Now we discover if that was luck or good judgement. The positive is whoever comes in, will be supported by the board and will have a preseason to implement their tactics, style of play etc. I don't see the club losing the ethos on players and there will be a few outgoings as I'm sure the next manager won't want 3 left wingers for example. Like Cook before, if things with the new manager don't go well, I don't think they'll sit on their hands. Thank you Kieran for everything you've done here and you'll forever be mentioned in the same breath as other club legends. COYB | |
