![]() Tuesday, 22nd Aug 2006 10:04 Fulham midfielder Sylvain Legwinski is reported to be joining the Blues on trial later today. The 33-year-old Frenchman is out of favour at Craven Cottage and is expected to leave on a free transfer before the transfer window closes. Legwinski, nicknamed Monica by Fulham supporters, has recently been on trial with French club Troyes but failed to win a deal. The busy defensive midfielder joined the Cottagers from Bordeaux for £3.3 million in August 2001. Born in Clermont-Ferrand, Legwinski has made 148 starts for Fulham and 16 sub appearances and has scored 12 goals. Prior to his two-year spell with Bordeaux the midfielder started his career with Monaco. Legwinski is known for his Matt Holland-style applauding of fans at the end of matches. Rumours that Legwinski was a target first surfaced a fortnight ago but at the time Town denied that the Frenchman was a target. Legwinski and Town's other trialists, Spaniard Toni Soldevilla and Bury Town's Ian Miller, are likely to be involved in a behind-closed-doors friendly with Spurs later this week.
