U21 Cap for Bruce
U21 Cap for Bruce
Saturday, 2nd Sep 2006 11:24

Town defender Alex Bruce played the full 90 minutes as the Republic of Ireland U21s lost 1-0 to Belgium in a UEFA Championships qualifier in Galway on Friday night. Bruce now has three U21 caps.

Also in action was Stephen Ward, watched recently by Town and a possible target in January. The big Bohemians frontman showed one or two clever touches and was amongst the Irish side's better players in a disappointing performance.

Republic of Ireland U21s: Doyle (Birmingham), Foley (Luton Town), Painter (Birmingham), Bruce (Ipswich), McShane (WBA), Keegan (Drogheda Utd), Deery (Derry City) (O'Donovan (Cork City) 78), Whelan (Sheffield Weds), Flood (Cardiff), Ward (Bohemians) (Dixon (Tottenham) 88), Timlin (Fulham) (A Keogh (Scunthorpe) 68).
