Reserves Take on Oxford
Wednesday, 18th Oct 2006 12:03

Keeper Shane Supple and striker Dean Bowditch are the most senior players named in the Town reserve side taking on Oxford United at Didcot Town's Loop Meadow Stadium this evening (KO 7pm). Supple will be looking to impress manager Jim Magilton ahead of Saturday's first team game at Southend.

Martin Brittain, Ian Miller and Scott Barron are also included having been in Magilton's recent first team squads, while Darryl Knights will be keen to continue a run which has seen him score two goals in his last two reserve matches.

In action for the Conference side's second string is former Blue Gavin Johnson, now 36, who is on the way back from a hamstring injury which has kept him on the sidelines since early September.

Johnson netted the Town goal in the 1-1 draw at Oxford which secured the Blues the 1991/92 Second Division title, a certain Jim Magilton scoring for the home side. Johnson also claimed Town's first Premiership goal on the opening day of the following season in a 1-1 home draw with Aston Villa.

Reserves: Shane Supple, Chris Casement, James Krause, Edward Upson, Ian Miller, Michael Synnott, Martin Brittain, Dean Bowditch, Darryl Knights, Jordan Rhodes, Scott Barron. Subs: Ollie Fenn, Andrew Plummer, Jai Reason, Tommy Smith, Russell Short.
