Darryl Knights scored two goals for the third game running and Dean Bowditch added another as Town's reserves defeated Oxford United 3-2 at Didcot Town's Loop Meadow Stadium. The Blues' second string remain top of the Pontin's Holidays Combination League East Division.

Knights, who netted a brace against Southend last week and Felixstowe and Walton the week before, opened the scoring on 12. The home side, who included former Blue Gavin Johnson in their ranks, hit back five minutes later through Ben Spilman.

Dean Bowditch put the Blues back in front on the half hour which was how it remained until the 51st minute when Knights added his second and Town's third. Alex Tapp completed the scoring in the 65th minute.

Central defender Ian Miller was again one of Town's most impressive performers, as was Knights, currently in a rich vein of goalscoring form. Dean Bowditch limped off in the closing stages after overstretching for the ball.

Boss Jim Magilton, a former Oxford player, arrived late in Didcot having apparently got lost on his way to the unfamiliar venue.

The reserves' Suffolk Premier Cup quarter-final will be against Needham Market, who beat AFC Sudbury 1-0 in their first round tie on Tuesday. The game will be played at Bloomfields and has been provisionally set for Tuesday, 14th November.

Reserves: Supple, Casement, Synnott (Fenn 67), Krause, Brittain, Upson, Bowditch (Smith 74), Barron, Knights, Rhodes (Reason 67). Unused: Plummer, Short.
