Town's FA Youth Cup campaign came to an early end as the Blues lost 5-3 on penalties to Yeovil at Huish Park in their round three tie. The game had ended 1-1 after normal time and 2-2 after the extra 30 minutes.

The Blues dominated the first half and had several chances but went in 0-0 at the break.

Town eventually went ahead in the 59th minute, Jai Reason beating the Yeovil keeper from the spot after Jordan Rhodes had been fouled. The home side hit back on 67, Harry Sherwood also scoring a penalty

Within 30 seconds of the start of extra-time Ed Upson had put the Blues back in front. The midfielder netted a goal very reminiscent of his winner in the Youth Cup final two years ago, lashing in a piledriver from 25 yards.

But the lead didn't last and the Glovers hit back through James Hatcher, whose looping header beat Plummer in the Town goal. The young players on both sides were increasingly feeling the effects of cramp as extra-time wore on.

Neither team was able to add to their goals in the remaining minutes and inevitably the game went to penalties. Ollie Fenn, Jack Ainsley and Luke Webster scored for the Blues, but Ian Nimmo's kick was saved.

Despite keeper Plummer coming close on two occasions, the home side registered a five-goal full house and progressed to round four.

Town had been much the better side in the first half but the Glovers became stronger as the game had progressed.
