Boss Jim Magilton had special praise for central defenders Jason De Vos and Richard Naylor after the Blues defeated Coventry City 2-1 at the Ricoh Arena. The Town manager also felt his side should have been awarded a penalty in the first half when Alan Lee was felled in the box.

Magilton said: “I thought they were all brilliant today, especially my two centre-halves who I thought were outstanding.

"We were bitterly disappointed to lose on Saturday and there was a good atmosphere in the dressing room before the game, which gave me a feeling we would do well here.

"We have had a few false dawns this year but our performances in the last seven or eight games have been good, although we have not always got the results we deserved.

"But this is a massive three points and hopefully it will kick-start our season and we can build on this.

"The front two worked really hard and deserved their goals and I felt we should have had a penalty in the first half as well when Alan Lee went over in the box. The defender didn't make any contact with the ball and when he catches Alan it has to be a penalty.

"We defended well, which is another encouraging sign. Lewis made a couple of good saves for us and overall I have to be happy with the performance.

"If there is one criticism it's that we let them back in the game at the end when we were two goals up and should have been looking to show more quality on the ball and catch them on the break."

Coventry boss Micky Adams came under fire from the crowd late in the game and assistant manager Adrian Heath was sent to speak to the press: "Micky Adams is very down. He is a proud man and obviously does not want to be listening to that sort of thing.

"We are all disappointed and frustrated as our performance was poor and we all understand the frustration of the supporters.

"This was the first of two back-to-back home games we had and we were hoping to push on but in the end Doyle's goal has masked what was a pretty poor performance."
