Currie Move This Week?

On-loan midfielder Darren Currie says he hopes to complete his permanent move to Coventry later this week. Currie, whose Town deal is up in June, has been on loan at the Ricoh Arena since November with his spell due to end on Wednesday.

Currie said: "I hope I will be here for the second half of the season. The clubs are in discussions and there is no problem with me wanting to stay. Hopefully the two clubs can agree a fee because it is not going to be difficult for me to agree my personal terms.

"January is when the transfer window all opens up and, although it doesn't have to be rushed, from a personal point of view I want it to go through quickly because I want to stay here and be available to play against Bristol City [in the FA Cup next week] and thereon in.

"Micky Adams has made it clear he wants me. At the start it was a case of having a look at each other and he wanted to make sure I fitted in. I feel I have done OK and done everything that has been asked of me, and he is obviously happy with me which means he wants me to stay."

Currie's opportunities at Portman Road have been limited since Jim Magilton took over as manager. The ex-Barnet, Brighton and Wycombe man had been offered an extension to his contract by Joe Royle but when the former Town skipper took over this was withdrawn with all the squad challenged to prove themselves to the new management.
