O'Callaghan Bid Refused
O'Callaghan Bid Refused

TWTD understands that Cork City have turned down Town's second offer for midfielder George O'Callaghan. The former Port Vale man has been on trial with the Blues since September.

Initially Town asked to take the 27-year-old on loan but Cork are only interested in a permanent move. The Blues' first offer was refused on Friday but Town came back with a new bid over the weekend, which we believe to be in the region of £50,000 plus appearance clauses, but have still not matched the Eircom League side's valuation. A further bid is likely over the next few days.

SPL side Dunfermline are also reported to be interested in O'Callaghan but, having spent four months training at Playford Road, the former Republic of Ireland U20 international is keen to join the Blues. O'Callaghan has already agreed personal terms with Town.

The Blues have also watched Cork striker Roy O'Donovan in action in recent months, but there seems no suggestion that the 21-year-old's future is part of the discussions.

Meanwhile, we understand that 20-year-old Woodbridge Town striker Joe Francis may have done enough in his recent trial with the Blues to win himself a short-term contract at Portman Road.
