Reserves Defeat Dons
Reserves Defeat Dons

Town's reserves defeated the MK Dons 2-1 in their first game of 2007 at Portman Road. The Blues went ahead through Danny Haynes in the first half before Oliver Thorne equalised for the visitors, but Jaime Peters sealed the win after the break.

Richard Hall's side, watched from the directors' box by former Blue Kieron Dyer, ought to have won more comfortably but failed to make the most of their domination.

Jaime Peters was Town's best performer, while Danny Haynes may have done enough to take over from Billy Clarke alongside Alan Lee when the first team travel to Sunderland on Saturday, despite picking up a yellow card for a dive.
Aidan Collins played his first 45 minutes since undergoing a knee operation. New boss Jim Magilton has challenged the central defender to win himself a place in the squad after his release last year.

The reserves were watched by boss Jim Magilton and most of his coaching staff, while scouts from Boston, Millwall and Colchester United were spotted keeping an eye, perhaps with a view to loaning some of the fringe members of the Town squad.

The second string have been beaten only once this season, are yet to draw and sit at the top of the Pontin's Holidays Combination East Division.

Reserves: Plummer, Sito, Barron, Collins (Casement 46), Moore, Trotter, Brittain, Peters (Upson 70), Haynes, Clarke (Leabon 70).
