Kabba the Next Signing?
Kabba the Next Signing?

Sheffield United striker Steve Kabba could be Town boss Jim Magilton's next signing with reports claiming the 25-year-old has turned down a move to Leeds United. Magilton has previously revealed his interest in the Lambeth-born frontman, who has been linked with the Blues since shortly before the transfer window opened.

Kabba is understood to want to move back down south closer to London having spent four years in South Yorkshire.

The Blades are believed to be asking £500,000 for Kabba, who has been largely out of favour since Neil Warnock's side won promotion.

A fee at that level is likely to stretch Town's remaining transfer resources, although a loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent switch has been mooted.

Kabba started his career at Crystal Palace where he failed to make the grade, spending time on loan at Southend, Luton and Grimsby, before joining Sheffield United on a permanent basis in 2002. The 5ft 10in tall striker has scored 23 goals in 88 games during a Bramall Lane spell regularly interrupted by injury.

Town fans will remember Kabba most for ending George Burley's management career with a superb performance in Grimsby's 2002 3-0 victory over the Blues at Blundell Park, in which he scored twice and won the penalty which led to the other goal. Burley's tenure at Town was ended three days later.
