Boss Jim Magilton was pleased with the way his makeshift defence coped with Stoke's physical threat during the 0-0 draw at the Britannia Stadium. The Town manager also had praise for stand-in skipper Fabian Wilnis, who was making his 300th appearance for the Blues.

Magilton said: "I'm pleased with the result. Stoke are a physical side and are good at home.

"We came with a patched-up back four who I thought were outstanding and, to a man, I thought we were outstanding.

"We came with a gameplan and I thought it worked a treat for us. We worked our socks off and I can't remember ever getting anything here, it's never been a happy hunting ground for me.

"Fabian wanted to play games and he's been a top-class pro at this club for nine years, and in my book he's one of the best signings the club has made.

"He wasn't getting games because we were playing quite well and he wasn't involved. But football changes and in the space of a week he's been tremendous."

Gary Roberts picked up his fifth booking of the season, meaning he misses the Leicester game, but Magilton says the former Accrington man might be due a rest in any case: "That may come as a blessing in disguise.

"Gary has been fantastic for us since coming here but he's looked a bit jaded just lately. He's played a lot of games so the weekend off will give him a chance to recharge his batteries."

Stoke boss Tony Pulis felt his side did enough to deserve the three points: "We had enough chances and Ipswich came with a plan and did exceptionally well with it, with five in midfield.

"They kept it tight and it was very difficult for us, but it's changed around.

"At the start of the season teams were coming to the Britannia looking to win games and now they're looking not to lose.”
